Nothing beats a Japanese Katana
owe I wouldn't say that. First most tof the longsword techniques are EXTREMLY simular, but I think the longsword has several edges over the Katans as a weapon mainly it's abilities to thust more efectively, and make falseto cuts. The myth that Japanese swords where better than eurpean swords is just that a myth, europeans through out the middle ages had superior steal to the japanese ( in fact i haveread it was because of there inferior steel thatthey came up with the folding method) a good sword from the middle ages is every bit as balanced as any katana, it is true that katanas where and are sharper than western swords butthat is because in the westthey where cutting through very heavy armour, and where doble edged. It is likely that a Katanas blade would be ruined fighting a heavily armoured knight of the later middle ages and of course that is the only blade on the sword, it can't just be turned to have a nice undamaged blade on it. That being said my Katana is precious to me and I wouldn't trade it for the world.

Stick with what you are good at, huh? Even my wife likes shooting this one (with .38 Special rounds rather than .357).

I've read that article about a year ago, very interesting stuff.

I myself appreciate both melee (swords, axes, etc) and ranged weapons (bow&arrows, guns, etc).

Wouldn't it be pretty interesting if they made a film that was somewhat like Europe VS Far East? I can see it now... Knights vs Samurai in a large scale battle.
