Guest Aluigi Posted December 6, 2004 Posted December 6, 2004 funny, refusal to split from the Church and the Pope was what got St. Thomas More killed. no, not funny, I mean sad. how dare they use his name.
popestpiusx Posted December 7, 2004 Posted December 7, 2004 I think that it won't be long before Rome must declare Old Catholic Orders invalid, now that they are ordaining women. On the practical level, that would cause a break in apostolic succesion. Of course, it wouldn't necessarily effect the orders themselves, just the validity of te ordinations of or by women (and anyone in that line of succession).
DemonSlayer Posted December 7, 2004 Posted December 7, 2004 (edited) No good. Edited December 7, 2004 by DemonSlayer
popestpiusx Posted December 7, 2004 Posted December 7, 2004
Yeah, I don't get that, how these splinter groups can object to the "liberal" changes of Vatican II, but then ordain women, which is more liberal.
The Old Catholics have no problem with Vatican II. In fact, some of them say the Novus Ordo or some other version of a "reformed" liturgy.
Balthazor Posted December 7, 2004 Posted December 7, 2004 Yeah.... I don;t think that Old Catholics object to vatican II at al These guys went off the deep end a long time ago. SO not kosher.
popestpiusx Posted December 7, 2004 Posted December 7, 2004 Despite their name, they are not to be mistaken for traditionalists (of any flavor).
popestpiusx Posted December 8, 2004 Posted December 8, 2004
How about pseudo-traditionalists?
Nope. They don't espouse any traditional beliefs. They don't even refer to themselves as trads. The only claim they had was that they used a version of the Trid. Mass. Even that is not the case anymore, at least not exclusively.
God Conquers Posted December 8, 2004 Posted December 8, 2004 They also use the Anglican "Book of Common Prayer" for some of their services.... hardly traditional catholicism. They are more like a Liberal splinter group, off the other side of the spectrum. It would be interesting to see an encounter between a schismatic trad and a schismatic old catholic.
Scofizzle Posted December 8, 2004 Posted December 8, 2004 On the site it said that the Epicapalean(sp?) church had valid Apostolic Succesion....I was unaware of this......
