Paladin D Posted December 13, 2004 Posted December 13, 2004 I keep forgetting the answer to this one.
StColette Posted December 13, 2004 Posted December 13, 2004 (edited) The prayers are repitious, but not to be confused with being vain repitions. The prayers are used as a way of meditating on the mysteries. Kinda of like in certain hymns we sing Glory Glory Glory. And again not all repitious prayers are vain. Vain constitutes an emptiness when your are praying, meaning with no feeling or faith behind the prayer. I could repeat Christ's name over and over again and have such powerful feeling and faith behind it as a form of prayer and it not be repitious the same goes for the Rosary. Repitions aren't bad, vain prayers are. Edited December 13, 2004 by StColette
Theoketos Posted December 13, 2004 Posted December 13, 2004 An example of vain repitious prayer would be Tibetian prayer wheels. Also, crying Lord Lord and not really meaning it.
