Don John of Austria Posted December 19, 2004 Posted December 19, 2004
4. Ask them if they are saved.....repeatedly.
I love it when they do that, it is so much fun to completly stump an evangelical. I know, I know, it shouldn't be but it is.
socalscout Posted December 19, 2004 Posted December 19, 2004 14. "It does not say to do that in the Bible" or "That is not written in the Bible" 15. Whore of Babylon I can go on. God Bless them though.
socalscout Posted December 19, 2004 Posted December 19, 2004
9. "Priests should marry so they'll quit raping young boys."
That is a good one. Like marriage would cure pedophilia. Also, like all priests are scumbags. That bugs me.
the_rev Posted December 19, 2004 Posted December 19, 2004 16. When discerning priesthood, people call you a child molester, and that the Catholic Church as we know it is in destruction.
picchick Posted December 19, 2004 Posted December 19, 2004 17. Why do you need to confess your sins to a priest. God hears all and forgives all. All I need to do is go to Jesus and ask him for forgiveness. However, if anyone came up to me with any of these comments I'd be happy to explain it all to them.... Meg
musturde Posted December 19, 2004 Posted December 19, 2004 Why pray to saints when you can pray to God directly? Then even though you stump the person he keeps bringing it up even when he cant argue it. "9. "Priests should marry so they'll quit raping young boys." Why doesn't Vatican let the priests get married. The byzentines and Maronites of the Catholic Church enjoy this privalege (before priesthood). Is it because it's been done differently for so long it wouldnt work if we changed?
Maddalena Posted December 20, 2004 Posted December 20, 2004 Teachers and stuff are allowed to be married (duh o_o), but some teachers still molest kids.
Paladin D Posted December 20, 2004 Posted December 20, 2004
Why doesn't Vatican let the priests get married.
However, Eastern Rite priests cannot marry in the United States. This was inforced so there wouldn't be competition between the two main rites, especially having individuals joining the Eastern Rite priesthood just so they can have the best of both worlds. Celibacy has (and still is) worked in the priesthood, priests these days don't make enough of an income to support an actual family. Not to mention the time constraints and how busy priests are, especially today when priests pastor large parishes and/or multiple ones. Why abandon a discipline that has worked for so long? Just because (though unfortunate) a small percentage of priests have fallen into sexual sin, does not mean the system doesn't work. Even though murder is illegal, people still committ it. Does this mean the law is useless or not enforced properly?

geetarplayer Posted December 20, 2004 Posted December 20, 2004 I read a funny script once... The atheist goes, "Oh my God," and the Christian goes, "No, He's my God. You don't have one, remember?" -Mark
