Cheerleading...

i just think that we talk about dirty dancing, how immoral it is, how it can lead to lust, etc....don't you think that cheerleading (especially some routines) could be just as immodest, just as lust inducing?

I voted "maybe".... I think it definately can be as bad, but I don't think it always is.

well, especially most outfits are immodest, the dance moves they do are immodest and lust inducing for teenage boys...

As a guy, I can answer yes from my perspecive. That just dosen't lead to good thoughts. Especially if the uniforms are worn to class as they were at my high school.

There have been times during the cheerleader's performance that our chaplain has had to turn his head or leave because the dancing was so suggestive. To me, that's ridiculous. Don't those girls think about the fact that they're dancing in front of a [i]priest[/i], much less a bunch of guys who are their brothers in Christ?! What I don't understand is how the moderators allow them to get away with it...

I voted maybe, because it's really what the cheerleaders go out there intending to do. If they cheer in a modest way then it's ok but then again most of the uniforms are not very modest.

But some cheerleaders can choose to make them modest like my friend Ivahnah, she made varsity cheerleading and she didn't like how short and slutty the uniforms were and so when they had to wear them to school she wore matching pants under her skirt, and a jacket over her top.

I think it just depends on what they are doing and how they are acting

I voted maybe because while their routines are awful and suggestive, and the girls should, because of that, choose not to be a cheerleader, I'm sure there are those who'd love to be a cheerleader, if only the outfits and routines were more modest. If I were one to enjoy that sort of sport myself, It'd be aggrivating to want to be a cheerleader, but not want to because of all the things taking place that they have no control over.

If you're gonna say that then your gonna have to same gyn routines are, dance ones, ect.
I'm sorry but I am not gonna plan what I do around a few easily "happy" guys. Not all of them are immodest, majority aren't. A true cheerleading routine is mainly gymnastics and stuff.

I voted I don't know because I agree, many cheerleaders will have immodest clothes and dance. but at my school, where the football games are really cold, their clothes are modest. as for the dances, I think sometimes they are ok, sometimes maybe not.

My mom's cheerleader skirt came to her mid-calf... and there weren't any cartwheels or anything... course that was back in '55

but the problem with most cheerleading teams at schools, it's not about the gymnastics of it...not at all....and would you call a priest an "easily happy guy"?

I voted maybe. I don't think that it is intrinsically, but I think that it can be abused to be made so, yes. Jen was a cheerleader...I'm sure she didn't do anything risque, but I'm certain that it can be done...however, I wouldn't consider that cheerleading per se, but an abused stand-in for cheerleading.

I voted no, but that's just me. I didn't read the other posts before voting (I never do, because I don't want them to influence my vote). I guess what you guys have posted is true, but when I voted, I thought to myself "Am I more morally compromised by cheerleading or dirty dancing?" The answer was dirty dancing, so that's how I voted. Then again, I go dancing a lot, so I'm around it more than cheerleading. I think questions like this are more of a personal thing. Just my .02

and what gets me so mad is when they hold that cheerleading clinic camp they teach all the little girls all those "Moves" :irate:

i think it has to do with leadership and what their motives are.

all i know is, i couldn't stand watching if my daughter were out there in a short skirt doing dances and flips that are so provocative...so, my girls will be taking karate classes...if i ever have girls.

It depends on the dance routines and the uniforms. The Dallas Cowboy's cheerleaders are noted to have the most seducing(?) uniforms in the NFL.

Um. . . I voted no. But, I might have a different perspective to offer here. I was in two national cheerleading competitions, was an All-Star cheerleader and currently a cheer coach at my old high school.


It really all depends on the coaching and the school rules.

Oh, and I wouldn't call the Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders true cheerleaders. In fact, I wouldn't call just about any NFL Cheerleaders true cheerleaders.

It can be, but I find that the cheerleaders at my school are not as dirty as the "dance" team. Anyway, I don't like cheerleading anyway. It's not really a sport, and I don't like the kind of crowd that it caters too.
