Maddalena Posted December 25, 2004 Posted December 25, 2004 I prefer midnight Mass. They always play the best music (they have instruments), the church is stuffed with people, and the kids are too tired to wine. We went to the 6:00 Mass, and there was an idiot kid acting up the whole time. His mom just sat there giggling and thought he was the cutest thing. It ruins the experience to have a stupid brat screaming his head off during Mass. e.e
franciscanheart Posted December 25, 2004 Posted December 25, 2004 I'm just now getting home! I'm praying for you buddy! Have a very merry Christmas!
Dave Posted December 25, 2004 Posted December 25, 2004 My parish didn't have a midnight Mass. So I went at 6pm.
Donna Posted December 25, 2004 Posted December 25, 2004 (edited) Winding down after Midnight Mass. It was a candle-lit Mass. No lights in the church but Christmas tree lights and candles. Every person held a candle. On the altar, about 30 high tapers. Evergreens high above the altar, adorned with lights (and wide, shimmering but modest pastel bows, with trailing ends). Side altars: great arches of garlands studded with lights, subtle fabric in backdrop; the Holy Magi figures (amidst "snow") were flanked by evergreen trees (more lights); and on the epistle side was this same, but with the nativity scene proper. Only four deep red pointsettas, high above, between the evergreen trees. The altar looked golden and pristine. Just lovely because 'twas bare. PPl decked to the nines (save moi who looked like a hippie...although that tartan wool pleated skirt probably saved me). It was high Mass. The smoke so thick every once in awhile a chorus of hacking would break out. I knew who folks were by their hacks, and thus more delighted w/ each familiar hack-er, that we should share in such joy. I was so happy. When holding my friend's candle, I spontaneously began waving them together, making a little pattern. I wondered (afterward) if I had set a bad example. May He visit us all today and forevermore. My Mother, give me thy Child, Jesus! Edited December 25, 2004 by Donna
