Pope St Clement 1 Posted January 3, 2005 Posted January 3, 2005 Has anyone here ever been on a NET team or known someone who has? We had a team come to our town (Pemberton, Western Australia) in May last year (I think). I gave them some copies of the Massmatics CD. They'd never heard of Phatmass but they were impressed with the CDs. I wonder if any of them ever joined up or influenced others to join. I'm just curious. God bless Robert
Pope St Clement 1 Posted January 3, 2005 Author Posted January 3, 2005 Nobody's answering. Nobody loves me.
shelly_freak Posted January 3, 2005 Posted January 3, 2005 Oh I was talking to my youth minister about NET team and she encouraged me to think about doing it after college, I really really want to, it would be so much fun! Plus it would look great on a reume when I look for a youth ministry job
cathqat Posted January 3, 2005 Posted January 3, 2005 I have a couple of friends who were on NET teams... about a decade ago! Neither are probably phatmass participants. at least one is a Dominican sister. Shelly, I totally recommend that you do it. My friends had awesome experiences on NET that they wouldn't trade for anything. It's a powerful ministry, both for you and for others.
littleflower+JMJ Posted January 3, 2005 Posted January 3, 2005 is there a website for this org? i've heard of them but i get them confused with another group i know that does the same thing.... thats awesome PSCI, thats pretty cool you gave them a pm CD oh and shelly i think you would be awesome to go on something like that--peeps who go on there never have any regrets but lots of fun. if i could go on one of those i would.....
cathqat Posted January 3, 2005 Posted January 3, 2005
is there a website for this org?
I'm pretty sure this is the NET USA website. There are different sites for other places, like Australia.

Pope St Clement 1 Posted January 3, 2005 Author Posted January 3, 2005
I'm pretty sure this is the NET USA website. There are different sites for other places, like Australia.
True, but there are opportunities to join multi-national teams. The one in May had a American guy (who came from Lo-Lo [spelling?] which is at the bottom of Hi-Hi [spelling?] - that cracked us up). He did a rap song with another guy which is one reason why I thought of giving them the CDs. There was also a Canadian I'm pretty sure. I know there was a bubbly Canadian girl in a team that came a couple of years before. Funny, the girl 2nd from the right in the front row of the photo, looks very much like a New Zealand girl that came in May. Thanks guys. I feel all better now -_-
Iacobus Posted January 4, 2005 Posted January 4, 2005 I have been on two of their retreats and my parish does or at least used to do a confrimation retreat with them. I told them about Phatmass and one of the attached seminarienanies (I really can't spell today) had their CD and they were all listening to it before they got to Rockford. I am not big into the Charismatic thing, but I think they do a lot for the faith. They were the first place I really prayed the Rosary and it was the 1st time I went to adoration (or even knew what it was). I had considered joining them for a year but if I go to meidcal school, which appears to be in the cards as long as I can take organic chem and live, I won't have time to really do it after college and if I do it before I will be so old when I can finnily afford to have a family.
Janana8706 Posted January 4, 2005 Posted January 4, 2005 I've attended two retreats by them. The 8th grade one was really good, i got a lot out of it. I was really interested in joining. I attended one last year, and it wasn't so great. I think that if the group I went w/ last year were closer it would have been nicer. They had a good message, but didn't get it across very easily.
littleflower+JMJ Posted January 4, 2005 Posted January 4, 2005 okay about the NET teams focus on one diocese for their term or whatever? or do they travel around?
Pope St Clement 1 Posted January 4, 2005 Author Posted January 4, 2005
Travel!
Yes, but I have heard of NET teams assigned to individual parishes for a time. By the way, I think it is fantastic that your NET team member friend became a Dominican nun. Praise the Lord !!! Did NET have anything to do with her vocation decision? Quote(little flower + JMJ @ Jan 4 2005, 05:29 am)
thats awesome PSCI, thats pretty cool you gave them a pm CD
Thanks little flower They'd said they'd use it in their work.
Fides_et_Ratio Posted January 4, 2005 Posted January 4, 2005 I have a good friend from school on team 7 (I think?) this year. It seems like an interesting program.
Pope St Clement 1 Posted January 4, 2005 Author Posted January 4, 2005
Oh I was talking to my youth minister about NET team and she encouraged me to think about doing it after college, I really really want to, it would be so much fun! The team in May did a night 'retreat' for teens and upper primary (us 'oldies' were there as well) at our church with skits, energy-filled personal testimonies, and an activity. They also had a day at our St Joseph's Primary School with the upper primary school students. The school kids had a ball and they each had their favourite NET team member. The team had a great sense of humour and they were fun. It makes me smile to think of them, particularly the guy from Lo-Lo (spelling ?). There were two Americans in the team, including the guy from Lo-Lo, and a New Zealander. There's not much chance of it but if you ever joined an international team, I might run into you and that would tickle me pink. Where ever they send you, you'll have an opportunity to do great work with older children, teens and young adults. God bless you Shelly
ryanmeyersmusic Posted January 4, 2005 Posted January 4, 2005 i believe that soulman+mrg was on a NET team, but i haven't seen him on phatmass in quite a while...

shelly_freak Posted January 5, 2005 Posted January 5, 2005 Oh believe me, I'm way serious about wanting to do it. I've been a camp counselor and counselor at a few other retreats through out my high school career and I love it. I love telling kids how I found God and how they can do it too. One of my favorite moments is right before giving a talk about my faith, when everything is going through my mind and I'm nervous and the kids are waiting. God I love it! I had thought of other things after college like peace corp or ameri corp but I feel especially called to NET team.
