KatFromSVDP Posted January 26, 2005 Posted January 26, 2005 Oooooh this is a fun post! haha My FAVORITE band is......... PHILMORE! They are so awesome! A Christian punk type of band. Not sure if they're Catholic, but they sing about waiting for the girl Jesus has saved for them (The Fishy Song) and on their wedding day about being chaste (Worth the Wait) and other stuff. They're not very big, but you can buy their CDs on their website.. www.PlanetPhilmore.com Another band I like is Relient K. They're not really punk.. more pop-punk I would say.. haha But they're really good too. I don't know if they're Catholic but they are Christian. Hope ya'll like em!
littleflower+JMJ Posted January 26, 2005 Posted January 26, 2005
littleflower... thank you for your very warm welcome. although my 9 posts hardly compare to your 14000 (WOW!), i feel quite comfortable here and hope to stick around. yeah, Thrice is awesome. i don't really listen to much of their older music, but The Illusion of Safety and The Artist in the Ambulance are both great cd's. by the way...the little flower is my favorite saint.
oh your welcome! im glad your here i barely got into Thrice, though my brother has been listening them since forever, and I really like Artist in the Ambulance.....pretty good switch from SOTY and yellowcard. im glad to hear st. therese is one of your favorites!! can you tell shes mine? :hearts: lol we definitly need to talk lol shes awesome! any friend of hers is mine as well! kat, relient k is pretty awesome. i remember buying one of their first cds.....before they got really known lol i think their a good band....different style from mine....but still very good and i really like what they stand for.
Specter Posted January 28, 2005 Posted January 28, 2005 I'm gonna go out on a limb and say "Relient K" I'm a big fan. I own all of their albums, and have gotten them all on the release date. And I mean ALL of their albums on release date.
melporcristo Posted January 28, 2005 Posted January 28, 2005 dude, thats hardcore! Okay so whats up with their bass player leaving the band??? i was so sad when i heard this.... but yeah i am pretty sure they are pro-life.
Specter Posted January 28, 2005 Posted January 28, 2005 The bass player is still very much friends with the band. He's starting a landscaping company to better support his family that he's starting. He's married and all.
corban711 Posted January 28, 2005 Posted January 28, 2005 thank you both CURTINS and LITTLE FLOWER for your welcome! little flower...i think it would be awesome to talk sometime. well...there is a Christian band that I LOVE, although they are not punk. they are called Something Like Silas. they are really influenced by bands like U2, jimmy eat world, etc. they are from San Diego. in my opinion, they are musically just as good or better than some of the best Christian bands out there, although right now they are a lot less known. they write "worship" music but in the style of music as those bands above. they saw that it seemed like a problem when most worship bands would get booed off stage if they played in secular venues...not just because the lyrics, but because it was music people (esp. youth) wouldn't want to listen to. so they have attempted to blend great music with worship lyrics. i love 'em.
DemonSlayer Posted January 30, 2005 Posted January 30, 2005 (edited) They're punk/alternative rock. MP3's Edited January 30, 2005 by DemonSlayer
melporcristo Posted February 2, 2005 Posted February 2, 2005 I am definately going to give Antiskeptic and the other Christian bands a try on my radio show. You all should check it out, i'll take requests too! it's on Saturday's from 2-4pm Pacific time @ KSUB We got a new website that is updated, so just click on the link for music. AIM us too @ ksubrequest. Okay I talk too much about this radio show ....
DemonSlayer Posted February 2, 2005 Posted February 2, 2005 So you've already listened to Antiskeptic?
DemonSlayer Posted February 11, 2005 Posted February 11, 2005 Norma Jean is coming here (Australia) in May with Unearth and Atreyu, even though Norma Jean (Christian) and Uneath are good bands, but I'm not sure if I should go because Atreyu has a couple of anti-Christian songs. What you guys think?
DemonSlayer Posted June 17, 2005 Posted June 17, 2005 Since I posted that, but before went to the show, I actually realised that they're anti-religion, perhaps anti-Catholic, I don't know, but in The Shotgun Message, Jesus is described as dying "not for your religion, not for your patterns"... Unearth were awesome though.
bx_racer Posted June 17, 2005 Posted June 17, 2005 kurt cobain said something like punk is just playing what you wanna play or somtehing like that. yeah he was in a grunge band but grunge has punk roots.
melporcristo Posted June 17, 2005 Posted June 17, 2005 yeah I remember that quote ... it's pretty much true. It goes along with the do what you want kind of lifestyle usually.
