Colleen Posted January 4, 2005 Posted January 4, 2005 (edited) Hey Phamily, I'm taking a class this month which deals with different types of alternative communities (yeah, it's a "different" sort of class). Our main project for the class is to write a 10-15 page paper and give an hour-long presentation on any type of established alternative communities. Since I'm a Catholic nerd, I thought it would be fun to do mine on a monastic community. But there are so many and I can't decide which order or group to focus on! So I'm asking for help. Which order or group should I choose? We may be looking at the Rule of St. Benedict and the Rule of St. Francis in class, so I can't do the Order of St. Benedict or the Franciscans. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Edited January 4, 2005 by Colleen

Colleen Posted January 4, 2005 Author Posted January 4, 2005 Oh, and I should mention, the paper has to be 10-15 pages. So maybe I should do an older order, since there'd probably be more stuff on them. I'm not sure.

voiciblanche Posted January 4, 2005 Posted January 4, 2005 Wait a second. Cistercians are a branch of the Order of St. Benedict, are they not? (It's too bad, though, Colleen, 'cause they're really cool. They have Cistercian monks at UD!
