I always thought this was funny:

"I know God won't give me anything I can't handle. I just wish He didn't trust me so much!" -Mother Teresa

This is kind of a "nun funny." It might not be funny. I don't know.

I was at an Epiphany party tonight with a bunch of people I had never met before. They gave us an Epiphany trivia game, and one of the questions was multiple choice. It was, "Which of these three artists never painted the Epiphany?" The answer was Rembrandt, I think, but one of the choices was "Fra Angelico." One of the guys at our table said, "Who is Fra Angelico?" and another one replied, "Isn't that Mother Angelica's father?"

This is a story from the Sisters of Mary, Mother of the Eucharist in their May 2004 Newsletter...

Almsgiving to our Builders!
-by a postulant

The postulants are assigned to wash the many vehicles which the Sisters use throughout each week. I finally had the chance to wash the blue Ford minivan (it was actually at home!) A construction worked startled me by saying, "But Sister, you really don't have to do that."

"Oh, yes I do!" I promptly responded! With a rather amazed look, he went back to his work site and I continued to spray down the van.

Chuckling to myself, I thought how funny this must appear to these workmen: we, sisters, out in winter's cold, spraying off the caked up mud from cars which will only be re-caked upon their next use!

Soon another postulant came out the convent door. She looked at me with just about as dazed an expression as my construction-friend. She asked, "Why are you doing this car?" Suddenly, I began to wonder if this was our blue minivan! "This isn't ours! There's a hard hat in the passenger seat!" Somewhere that day, there was a construction man driving a spanking clean van...and I'll bet he was still laughing to himself!
