EcceNovaFacioOmni Posted January 9, 2005 Posted January 9, 2005 Can anyone help me compile a list of reasons why liturgical abuse is something deserving of our attention?
cathqat Posted January 9, 2005 Posted January 9, 2005 The faithful have a right to an authentic liturgy (Inaestimabile Donum), so liturgical abuses violate their rights. Deliberate violation of liturgical norms is also violation of the laws of the Church. So the perpetrator of liturgical abuse, assuming he did know what the norm was and deliberately violated it, either puts himself at risk of sin or worse. If we want to help safeguard the rights of the faithful and protect others from committing sin, we will care about liturgical abuse. That being said, many people respond very badly to liturgical abuses. The Church is not eager to respond to our problems if we will not follow the Church's protocols. Defending Our Rites: Constructively Dealing with Liturgical Abuse is a good place to start, but be sure to also consult this Effective Lay Witness Protocol.
Fides_et_Ratio Posted January 9, 2005 Posted January 9, 2005 #s 1 through 999999999999999999... (you get the point) The Liturgy is the celebration of our salvation made present.
