"The fullness of time is not upon us untl the jewish nation converts.
Doesn't look like that is happening any time soon. "

Events could cause this to happen very quickly. Or it may be another thousand years. I would say not to rest easy over this.
I agree. Always be prepared as though today is going to be your last day on earth.

But let us refrain from making predictions. Let's just all accept that it could be in our lifetimes, for all we know.

when you think the world's going to end soon, go to confession

(when you don't think it, go to confession as well! :D)
The jewish nation must convert?? or must they begin to believe in the Messiah.
On the other hand, we might only need one more person and then it is over.
Church teaching states that Final Judgement is suspended until the Jewish nation converts, and ALL people have heard the message of the Gospel.

We are not there yet, in fact we have to go back and re-evangelise many countries that WERE once Christian.

This has nothing to do with appariations, but simple Church teachings on the endtimes.

Our personal end is far more important than the Final Judgement, since that is the one we are required to be ready for.

intresting so it is safe to say that the world has a long way to go before the end

probably...
I am more concerned about the end of my earthly existance , because I am the one who has to answer for it.

This is not to say we are not to teach and preach at all times.

A lot of doomsayers throughout history have always said, "Look out there. It's obvious the world is going to end. These events correspond to these signs." However, we're told that we will not know the time. I think people want the end to happen when they're alive so they don't have to die to get to heaven.

you all have watched The Day After Tomorrow too many times!
focus on your life TODAY. that is what is required of you. you may be too busy running around freaking out about the end times that you may not see that runaway semi truck barelling down the street straight at you at 100mph in time.

dreamweaver, you go to NDSU?! i go to MSUM!

guys we dont know the ned times but i am not even going to try and guess. have you heard that song live like you are dying? just do that. because everyone is dying you should be more worried about that then when the end will come. Because for us it wont really be an end anyway it will be a begining.

Don't you all know that Good Catholics don't sit around talking about the end of the world. It's a protestant thing . . . you should be too busy making reparations to the Immaculate and Sacred Hearts.

I don't understand how you can come to this conclusion that he was talking just to or about the disciples when he clearly says that nobody knows the time.  What part of "the Father alone?" insinuates that we have any power to predict end times?

I'd go so far as to say that such speculation is so far beyond our own powers that this verse implies we are obligated not to make predictions.  No one knows, so why even bother trying to figure it out?
hm, what do yo utake on Matthew 24:37, then? ANd Matthew 24:33 "So likewise ye, when ye shall see all these things, know that it is near, even at the doors" Around this Bible verse Jesus is talking about the signs of summer, that yo uknow when it is nigh, hes making an analogy to end times revelation. I think that He is making it very clear that we can know the end times generation by signs. You need to look at the surrounding verses, you cant just take one verse and put it out of context.
i think Jesus is not discouraging looking for end times signs, in fact i think that hes encouraging it. Hes not saying panic about it, Hes saying be ready. i think that Jesus is commanding us to look for it. We dont know right now what time it is,i dont think that anyone does, but it doesnt mean that no one ever will.

also, look at Acts 1: 7-8, if you only look at vs 7, then we cant know any of the secrets of God, but in vs. 8 it states that the HS will reveal them to us.

btw, i have no idea if we are actually living in endtimes, i just think that it is possible to know when one is.

So you are qualified to decide what good catholics do? :)

Last I checked Eschatology is a legitimate church topic. Not the silly left behind stuff but there is is legitimate catholic prophecy on the topic.

Do the jews need to accept the Savior or just here about him?

If they only need to hear about them then that is not an argument at all because they already have. The gospel message is displayed around the world constantly.

What about the writing of Paul in the letter to the Romans it talks about only a remnant being saved. WOuldn't that suggest the whole nation doesn't need to accept it. Granted i don't remember off hand what that specifically is reffering to, as when the remnant will be.

To the people who say this is useless, i would simply say it is not a waste of time to only consider it. It is not a waste of time to live a better life. The only waste of time it could be is when you waste away thinking about it and do nothing but think it is coming the next minute.

If this is a useless casual discussion then so is most of the other things we talk about here.

Come on, guys, it's not the end of the world... ;)

But seriously guys. Live for now. This is what God calls us to do. There's this quote I love, I can't remember who said it, but it goes like this: "God's Will: to peacefully do at each moment what ought to be done." So true, eh? It's not, "God's Will: to talk about the future, and make sure to worry about it." Live for now, guys. Unless you see Jesus coming in the clouds right this second, or you're not meditating on this as a prayer, whats the point?

Look at it like this. There's probably something on your mind (this is aimed at everyone here) that you wanna get done, or say to someone, or even something simple you just want to do, right? Now lets say you keep worrying that the end times are coming, waste more time worrying, waste more time, then BAM! So much time wasted, you can't do what you wanted to! Then you say, "where'd all that time go?" and you worry about that. Before you know it, you've wasted more time. It's a big ugly loop.

So as I was saying... live for now. The most important time is now, the most important people are the people you're with, and the most important thing is what you're doing. God is present now. Not in the past, that already happened. Not in the future; it doens't exist yet. Well, He exists there, being omni-whatever and stuff. But you can't be with Him then. It doesn't work that way. The time is now.

The time is now.

(P.S. this is more anti-worry propaganda, but I guess it kind of applies. I'm not saying it's a waste of time talking about it, I'm saying it's a waste of time worrying about it.)
We know the End will come eventually, but are we going to recognize it when it gets here?
Do we really need to recognize it when it's here? I ask this because we are supposed to always be ready, whether for the end of time or the end of our own lives. If we are always ready, like we're supposed to be, will it make such a big difference whether we recognize the end coming or not?

Personally, I think most of Matthew 24 is about the destruction of the Temple in Jerusalem in a.d. 70 (c.f. Mt 24:1-2, Lk 21:5-6). It may have a future/anagogical reference too, but it has already happened.

My opinion? I think we are near the end of the world. We've been near it ever since Jesus was crucified. We just don't know when. Or how near. Remember, in God's time, a second is like a thousand years and vice versa.

So I'd say that just because we know the time is near doesn't mean we know when the time is.

Yes. BVut the important thing isn't the end of the world so much as it is, "well, what can we do to prepare ourselves and to prepare humanity?"

I don't think I'm really disagreeing with you here.

There have been signs for two thousand years. The Scriptures tell us no one knows, why cant we keep it at that. Instead you got these "kjv bible fanatics" trying to bring the end of the world themselves..lol I pitty them. That goes to show you how much they really know the scriptures. The True Church knows about certain signs that indicates it's arrival. Many of those signs have not occured yet and probably wont for a long time. We do not know when and that's just how it is. .

If you want to read about what the Church says start with

Trial, Tribulation, and Triumph: Before, During and After the Antichrist by Desmond Birch available at Amazon. Father William Most calls it a scholarly book on the subject and wrote the forward.
