myduwigd Posted January 22, 2005 Posted January 22, 2005
How do you know what demons do and don't flee at? You know, not everything Jesus said or did is recorded in the Bible (John 21:25). His Apostles were privy to things He said that aren't in the Bible. What makes you think they didn't share those things with others? As a Catholic, I know they did. It's all in the history books.
there is story in the BIble that states that this is true. there were some men trying to cast out some demons in the name of Jesus; the demons spoke back to them saying, we do not know who you are, but we know who Paul is! i dont remember exactly what happened, they may have gotten possessed, or the possessed person was possessed by even more demons or something. so you do need the background of faith and prayer and fasting. i can look up the story if yo uwant me to.
KnightoftheImmaculate1 Posted January 23, 2005 Posted January 23, 2005 From what I have read in these posts, with all due respect, you guys need some education on the sacramental of Exorcism. To keep this short you all should get a copy of Fr. Amorth's books "An Exorcist Tells His Story" and "An Exorcist, More Stories." They are published by Ignatius Press, San Francisco. Here is a cool quote from the second book, "According to their own admissions, demons prefer the sufferings of hell to our words of blessing." (Fr. Gabriele Amorth, An Exorcist, More Stories, p. 49.) Servus
KnightoftheImmaculate1 Posted January 23, 2005 Posted January 23, 2005 An example of areas of education would be... 1)
4. Conversation with demons is a no-no. Jesus didn't carry on discussions, he asked its name and told it to shut up. Then he commanded it to leave.
What must be understood here is that, the exorcist must follow the rules in the Ritual regarding questioning. Some examples of the rules (found in Fr. Amorth's book) are: "Never ask useless questions or out of curiosity. We must ask for the name, whether there are other demons and how many, when and how the evil one entered that particular body, and when he will leave. We must find out whether the presence of the demon is due to a spell, and the specifics of that spell. If the person ate or drank evil things, he must vomit them; if some sorcery was hidden, it is important to be told where it was hidden, so it can be burned with the appropriate cautions." (this is take from p. 79 of the first book from Fr. Amorth). If you are interested in these things do not let curiosity bring you into danger. Never consult texts produced by those who practice witchcraft, etc. If you have an interest get these books and talk to your priests about it. I hoped this helped a little. Servus
