G-Freak12 Posted January 16, 2005 Posted January 16, 2005 I was just wondering what y'all thought of the Pagan religion, I found out about it within the last year because I made a friend last year who is it, she told me about it and I asked my uncle about it who reads alot of books about different religions and he said "its not even a religion, you ask your friend about her religion and what her church does and if you were to ask another Pagan from a different church about what they do at their church and you'll notice what the two pagans say their religion is about sounds like two totally different religions paganism isn't a religion every pagan church makes up their own gods, and worship methods" what I heard from my friend was complete bull, she said "we have two gods a female god and a male god" and she showed me a pagan necklace she has and she said "you ask it a question and the god will answer the question through the necklace, when its a no it will move in that direction for yes the other"
G-Freak12 Posted January 16, 2005 Author Posted January 16, 2005 And what i just remembered I forgot to mention, her mom used to be a "devoted catholic" but when she read about paganism in a book she converted"... right devoted catholic is that why you had your kid when you were 17?
Are you saying that she shouldn't consider herself a devout Catholic because maybe she made some mistakes as a teenager? Out-of-wedlock pregnancies are sad, but not as sad as abortion. St. Augustine had a wild streak. As far as paganism is concerned, basically, the followers believe in whatever they want. Some choose specific gods/godesses to devote themselves to. There is not set method of worship for them. One thing that most of them have in common is their common belief that there is no supreme evil being. Many of them get flack from Christians for "worshipping the devil", which makes them reply, "How can we worship something that we don't beleive in?" Satan is a tricky fellow, he used to be the highest of angels before his fall. I think that manhy pagan religions promote selfishness. "Do what thou wilt, as long as ye harm none". When you are in charge of the rules, you essentially make yourself a god. Any wiccan who claims their religion is better than Christianity simply because its older needs to actually study their history. Wicca was invented in the 60s by spiritualists/occultists. It has very little resemblance to actual paganism of the ancient Celts and other ancient Europeans.
G-Freak12 Posted January 16, 2005 Author Posted January 16, 2005
Are you saying that she shouldn't consider herself a devout Catholic because maybe she made some mistakes as a teenager? No not at all, I'm saying was never a devout catholic if she turned pagan, and that she had sex b4 she was married which is against the church and no devout catholc would do that because its against the church
rachael Posted January 16, 2005 Posted January 16, 2005
No not at all, I'm saying was never a devout catholic if she turned pagan, and that she had sex b4 she was married which is against the church and no devout catholc would do that because its against the church
people aren't perfect and even some devout Catholics fall....
JazzforJesus Posted January 16, 2005 Posted January 16, 2005 i have heard of that necklace thing before, what i think about that is that the body shakes subconciously, we may say we are not moving it but not one person can really hold their hands completly still. we subconciously move our hands to what we hope the answer to be.
FilmGuy127 Posted January 16, 2005 Posted January 16, 2005 (edited)
i have heard of that necklace thing before, what i think about that is that the body shakes subconciously, we may say we are not moving it but not one person can really hold their hands completly still. we subconciously move our hands to what we hope the answer to be.
your totally right... you can try it acctually.... its kinda fun... take a piece of paper... draw a circle on it and in the center put a dot.. then at about 1 oclock write yes and at 9 write no... then take anything that will hang and swing nicely from a chain... a necklace works well... and hold it over the center dot... then to get started you can start saying outloud to yourself or in your head that the hanging thing will start to swing back and forth... all teh while your trying to hold your arm still... it should start swinging... then you can ask your subconscious questions and it will answer by making the hanging thing swing toward yes or no... its really fun to do... i learned this in a psycology class. its kinda related to hypnotisim Edited January 16, 2005 by FilmGuy127
FilmGuy127 Posted January 16, 2005 Posted January 16, 2005 all religions could be considered illogical though
Mrs. Bro. Adam Posted January 16, 2005 Posted January 16, 2005

Are you saying that she shouldn't consider herself a devout Catholic because maybe she made some mistakes as a teenager? Just because one is a certain way does not mean that they will be that way forever. Every day we are faced with an important question: Will we be devout Catholics today, or will we stray a way? How we live is a daily decision. Don't judge the motive of the heart. It's not your, or my job. Have you ever lied? Misrepresented truth? Omitted truth? Have you ever cheated? Stole? Envied? Have you ever sinned? Same with her. That's all she did. She sinned. However, her sin had a physical consequence, a child. It's not the pregnancy that's the sin, it's the action that produced a pregnancy that is. Don't forget that.

White Knight Posted January 17, 2005 Posted January 17, 2005 Its satanism, its evil, what else is there to say?
G-Freak12 Posted January 17, 2005 Author Posted January 17, 2005 oh hey whitenight havent seen u around in awhile! how can someone worship something they dont beleive in? the pagans i know dont believ in satan
Noel's angel Posted January 17, 2005 Posted January 17, 2005 its not that pagans worship Satan, they worship other 'gods' which, in itself is against God's will, and therefore, part of Satan's (if that makes any sense)
rachael Posted January 17, 2005 Posted January 17, 2005 paganism: One who is not a Christian, Muslim, or Jew, especially a worshiper of a polytheistic religion. satanism: The worship of Satan characterized by a travesty of the Christian rites.
geetarplayer Posted January 17, 2005 Posted January 17, 2005 Satanists are Christians who are rooting for the other side. Anywho, paganism is weird. It seems very informal and almost off-the-cuff. Formless. -Mark
picchick Posted January 17, 2005 Posted January 17, 2005 Not all religion is illogical. To me Catholicism is not illogical. It has rules and laws found in the bible and the laws do not contradict each other. However, paganism and other religions can make rules ad lib so to fit their needs. I mean maybe some have a strict set of rules but as far as the Church goes a rule is a rule no bending to fit our needs.
White Knight Posted January 17, 2005 Posted January 17, 2005 (edited) It makes sense, because the devil has always wanted to be worshipped, ever since he fell from Heaven. Jesus or the devil? which one? only two ways exist. Isn't it logicially for the devil to influeance people to turn away from God, and serve, other gods which are all linked to the devil some how? The Occult, Cults, etc etc, wouldn't it be logicially for the devil to use these things for act of worship of him? and turn people away from Jesus Christ our Lord., It makes perfect sense. The devil will try anything, do anything to make you turn away from God Almighty, and worship other things idols. To alot of people's minds, they wanna gray this issue up, and tell you the truth, you can't do that... Its a Black & White Issue. Good or Evil, Jesus or satan. I know that sounds really close minded, but thats just how it is. God Bless You All, Pax Christ. Edited January 17, 2005 by White Knight
