1337 k4th0l1x0r Posted January 19, 2005 Posted January 19, 2005 There is a patron saint for good memory, but I forgot who it was.
Brother Adam Posted January 19, 2005 Author Posted January 19, 2005 Now watch me slaughter this: We believe in one God, the Father, the Almighty, maker of heaven and earth. Of all that is seen and unseen. We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ, the only Son of God. Eternally begotten not made, God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten, not made, of one in being with the Father. For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate. He suffered, died, and was buried. On the third day he rose again in fulfillment of the scriptures. He is seated at the right hand of the Father and will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead. We believe in the Holy Spirit. The Lord, giver of life. Who proceeds from the Father and the Son. He has spoken through the Prophets. We believe in one holy catholic and apostolic Church. We acknowledge one baptism for the forgiveness of sins. We look for the resurrection of the dead, and the life of the world to come. Amen. ack. how bad was that?
Birgitta Noel Posted January 19, 2005 Posted January 19, 2005 Rev! That's why we were all encouraging you to read TKAMB earlier this month! You can't breeze through college the way you are through HS. Old habits die hard, but break them now and you'll have a much smoother transition to college. BA: the nun LOLOLOLOLOL
homeschoolmom Posted January 19, 2005 Posted January 19, 2005 I think it's harder knowing the Apostle's Creed (which I also grew up with)... you have all kinds of funky things happening...
cmotherofpirl Posted January 19, 2005 Posted January 19, 2005 (edited) You were VERY close. We believe in one God, the Father, the Almighty, maker of heaven and earth, of all that is, seen and unseen. We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ, the only Son of God, eternally begotten of the Father, God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten, not made, of one Being with the Father. Through him all things were made. For us and for our salvation he came down from heaven; by the power of the Holy Spirit he became incarnate from the virgin Mary, and was made man. For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate; he suffered death and was buried. On the third day he rose again in accordance with the Scriptures; he ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead, and his kingdom will have no end. We believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life, who proceeds from the Father and the Son. With the Father and the Son he is worshiped and glorified. He has spoken through the Prophets. We believe in one holy catholic and apostolic Church. We acknowledge one Baptism for the forgiveness of sins. We look for the resurrection of the dead, and the life of the world to come. Amen. Edited January 19, 2005 by cmotherofpirl
1337 k4th0l1x0r Posted January 19, 2005 Posted January 19, 2005 Two things I spotted: It's 'Eternally begotten of the Father' and 'With the Father and the Son he has spoken through the prophets'
1337 k4th0l1x0r Posted January 19, 2005 Posted January 19, 2005 Oh yeah, and you missed the whole part about the incarnation.
Brother Adam Posted January 19, 2005 Author Posted January 19, 2005
I think it's harder knowing the Apostle's Creed (which I also grew up with)... you have all kinds of funky things happening...
yeah. that's the problem. I'm a child of the Apostles Creed. We used the Nicene creed like twice a year. The funky thing is, I can do a lot of things, like recite the Nicene creed when I'm not under pressure. When I'm under pressure though. Memorization is my worst area. I have to literally memorize it word for word, comma to comma. I don't have good 'recall' ability.
cmotherofpirl Posted January 19, 2005 Posted January 19, 2005 I hate when we switch from saying this one to the Apostles Creed because then I end up with some weird hybrid version..
Brother Adam Posted January 19, 2005 Author Posted January 19, 2005 yeah. I'm doing a lot better- last night I couldn't get past "We believe" cause I kept saying the Apostles creed. But still have a ways to go.
cmotherofpirl Posted January 19, 2005 Posted January 19, 2005 It is so much easier singing it in Latin
Brother Adam Posted January 19, 2005 Author Posted January 19, 2005 lol. now imagine if i put the whole thing down in latin. Actually he couldn't penalize me. He didn't specify a language. And he'd have to do footwork to make sure it is right.
Amen.
