AndytheConqueror Posted January 19, 2005 Posted January 19, 2005 Did anyone think that Signs was a good movie? I really liked it; it's one of my favorites. I heard some people just hate it. Ok... Go wild...

JCLPfreak102 Posted January 20, 2005 Posted January 20, 2005 Signs ruled. it was even better cuz Mel Gibson was in it and Mel rules
wopsim Posted January 20, 2005 Posted January 20, 2005 mel was about the only think i liked in that film..............
wopsim Posted January 20, 2005 Posted January 20, 2005 it just wasn't one that i liked..... i was bored... and in the begining of the movie i was all like "watch this, there will be these aliens... and you can kill them with water".... my sister hit me when i said it... she was all like "you are ruining the movie for everyone!!!!" and i had to tell her that i had never seen it before....
Joseph Posted January 20, 2005 Posted January 20, 2005 I didn't think it was too bad. Of course I've seen better movies, but I'd watch it again since it's been a couple years.
Socrates Posted January 20, 2005 Posted January 20, 2005 I personally thought Signs was the weakest M. NIght Shy(whatever his name is!) movies, worse than The Village (which I actually kind of liked, though most people hated it). I thought the whole movie just didn't work. It wasn't scary, and I thought the ending was disappointing. A lot of his movie are kind of subjective - people seem to react to and interpret them in very different ways. I still think Sixth Sense was best ("I see dead people!")
delta557 Posted January 20, 2005 Posted January 20, 2005 It was awesome because it wasn't science-fiction. It had a pretty realistic view of how the world would react if such a thing ever happend. And I love how it created suspense by not showing you thing aliens. Like, when they were pounding on the door and stuff...that was terrifying! (but i liked it!) Up until you actually saw the alien it was good...the alien was kinda corny. But I'm totally game for beating things with baseball bats, so it was cool. The only thing I would have done differently is when Mel was with that alien behind the pantry door. Mel just left it there. I would have busted off a table leg and grabbed that knife and totally gone at it with that alien. I mean, if you duked it out with an alien and won, you would have bragging rights for life.

I would pack up my stuff and drive to Philadelphia, somewhere where there's a lot of people (they were living in PA).
AndytheConqueror Posted January 20, 2005 Author Posted January 20, 2005 It does seem odd that water would harm and organism. But weakness to water is a common element in Shyamalan movies (like in Unbreakable).
But it's not the aliens wouldn't have already noticed that the most abundant chemical on the entire planet (save for nitrogen) was water (h20). They're smart enough to fly spaceships, wouldn't they be smart enough to figure out that the entire planet will burn them?? Just think if it was a humid day...
BeenaBobba Posted January 21, 2005 Posted January 21, 2005 I like it! It uses subtlety, which is kind of rare in the horror genre. God bless, Jen
tres sietes Posted January 21, 2005 Posted January 21, 2005 I enjoyed "Signs". There's more to it than just aliens and the other stuff. You have to kind of read into it. I agree with another poster here about The Sixth Sense. That was one of the best. The Village was okay. Went to the show to see it. Looking back, it's more of a rental type of movie. I couldn't stand Unbreakable, I thought that movie was pretty bad.
