myduwigd Posted January 23, 2005 Posted January 23, 2005 has anyone ever read the book Color Purple? man, its absolutely terrible! this girl has been raped and beaten since she was young, then she is given away in marriage to someone who is a jackass. it goes on and on, her husband takes in his mistress b/c she has an std and his little wife takes care of her and bla bla bla. it made me so angry. i couldnt believe that God would allow anyone to live this type of life when they are calling out to Him each day. after i read the book i just bawled. even though its not a true story i know things like it have happened. ive seen movies and heard stories about rape, ive even known rape victims; but for some reason this book got to me the most, probly because she was so innocent and one really got a glimpse of her inner pain and apathy. btw, if any of you have ever been raped or been in near circumstance, my heart goes out to you; you are a beautiful child of God and nothing can take that away from you. grrrrr, i hate rape, almost as much as i hate abortion.
Pope St Clement 1 Posted January 23, 2005 Posted January 23, 2005 It sickens me to the stomach. It is one of the most callous, vicious acts of all. The minimum sentence for anyone convicted should be life (in Australia that's 15 years (now 20?)) with no parole.
Birgitta Noel Posted January 23, 2005 Posted January 23, 2005 RAPE smells of elderberries. My heart goes out to all who have been raped, and to those who are the perpetrators of this crime, their souls must be severely damaged to allow them to commit this sort of act of violence. May God have mercy on their souls. -_-
RandomProddy Posted January 23, 2005 Posted January 23, 2005 I got 4 younger sisters. Anyone trying anything like that on them should fear for their life.
let_go_let_God Posted January 23, 2005 Posted January 23, 2005 Being raped is one of my worst fears. It is a terrible thing and no person should have to go through that. Also it saddens me that people don't think of when men are the victims of rape as well and that number is increasing as well. God bless- LGLG
Catholictothecore Posted January 23, 2005 Posted January 23, 2005 When i here about things like rape, i don't get as angry as i think i should. Instead, I just kinda go numb, and despair about prayer. What's the point if no ones open to God's grace... sigh. I have a lot of growing to do it that area.
curtins Posted January 23, 2005 Posted January 23, 2005 read the book "speak" and yes rape smells of elderberries major big time
Phazzan Posted January 23, 2005 Posted January 23, 2005
RAPE smells of elderberries.
My heart doesn't. Whether they are damaged, ill, disadvantaged, or just plain sick, there is nothing that can justify, make right or even lessen the moral culpability of rape. Every evil deed requires an evil motive. There is always forgiveness.
Catholictothecore Posted January 23, 2005 Posted January 23, 2005 Three things to be a mortal sin: seriously wrong, must be known to be seriously wrong, and must have full consent. I can't imagine rape not having all the full consent of the rapist. Even intoxicated, they have to have some sense of what their doing. But your right, IT IS SICK! :ill:
theculturewarrior Posted January 23, 2005 Posted January 23, 2005 I hate rape, but I find it particularly scandalous when the abuse becomes institutional. Rapists seek vicitms who won't cry out, so you find them in mental health facilities, homes for the developmentally disabled, nursing homes, and abortion clinics. It's something that still makes me want to be a lawyer.
Catholictothecore Posted January 23, 2005 Posted January 23, 2005 spritually heads to chapel One more thing to pray about!
Luthien Posted January 23, 2005 Posted January 23, 2005 Rape is the murder of a woman or mans spirit. Instead of it being a mutual giving of self, there is a taking. The violent use of another is a damnable sin in my mind. Being a blackbelt in martial arts, if I was to be raped, this man would die at my hands. I'd have no sympathy or mercy. Ill leave that to the Lord. My body is a gift to my husband, and no other has a right to take it.

Catholictothecore Posted January 23, 2005 Posted January 23, 2005 yyeah, that's one of the many bonuses. I have to say this; I've been on a lot message boards. But this one...is something special. No reason to fear. AWESOME GOD!!
