Pantyhose ?!?!?!?!?!

All the girls/women on here know what I'm talking about lol How big of a pain pantyhose really are. Well, yall the inventor was in fact a man named Allen Gant, Sr.

This whole thing was brought about by my trying to put a pair on earlier today, I got so irritated with them that I decided not to wear what I was going wear lol

lol sorry for my randomness but I know someone knows what I'm talking about.

just wondering, why would a guy want to invent pantyhose. The only reason why i would use it is if i was making a screen for a mic (yopu know those circle things in front of mics to protect them from your spit

not quite but pretty close, pantyhose are a lot thinner and tear very very very easily. lol It really smells of elderberries when ya finally have them on all the way and you notice you have a run in them. Ya gotta take those off and start the whole process over again lol

Pantyhose are the reason it take us girls so long to get dressed lol

Deep in the trivia recesses of my brain lurks . . .

Panty hose (formerly known as nylons) were devised to create a low cost, low resource substitute for silk stockings during World War II. As the silk worms were living in the Far East, under the Japanese emperor's control, there were no (or few) allied sources of silk for parachutes for aviators, paratroopers, rangers and other otherwise sane people who hurled themselves out of perfectly working (or malfunctioning) aircraft.

Women's fashions joined the war effort by donating their silk to military.

(or maybe that's a total fiction?)

well (after 5 minutes research) . . . sort of maybe

interesting story about made up word - nylon - ny stood for New York - lon stood for London . . . the first two markets in which duPont manufactured the product although another website says that story is made up . . . it was intended to compete with silk . . . but it also got used in the war effort, so only GIs trying to oppress (is that a Freudian slip - impress is the word I meant) women could ever find a pair of nylons . . . shame on them

pantyhose in particular owes its marketing success to the mini skirt (the really mini version that left almost nothing to the imagination) (and imagination is so essential to . . . never mind)

that's very true. they do make great pop filters. other than that, i don't want to have anything to do w/ them...

ok, dude. that's just flat out disturbing

we did hamlet in class, just a little reenactment, and one of the guys went all out and wore tights. sexy. hahaha...it was pretty funny though. i think he was somewhat embarassed when he went up on "stage" (the front of our classroom). another guy wore tights the WHOLE DAY to school too.

for show choir, we have these things that are like half tights and half pantyhose. a mix between the two. they're horrendous...really itchy and takes a while to get them on. but it helps make things uniform.

My grandfather used to wear pantyhose on his head to keep his hair neat during sleep.

I'm certain he sympathizes.

I find it ironic that it has been mostly men replying on the pantyhose thread. Hmmmm... :P
