J.R.D Posted February 3, 2005 Posted February 3, 2005 Why do nost of you people on here only have the bad things to say about movies???..... thats all you do ..... Yall only go by the bad not the good.
Guest Eremite Posted February 3, 2005 Posted February 3, 2005 Because, much like personal repentance, you have to recognize sin to be redeemed. You first have to slice a movie open, and determine what ISN'T redeeming in it, and only then can you explore redeeming qualities.
jp2_rules Posted February 3, 2005 Posted February 3, 2005 though i would personally like to see some more positive stuff, it makes sense in a way. in science, the way to prove a theory is actually through DIS-proving it. it only takes one negative thing to disprove it, while you could find many positives. i think by pointing out the negatives in a movie, we can see more cleary the good stuff.
J.R.D Posted February 4, 2005 Author Posted February 4, 2005 Yea but every movie that has been posted on here yall have said it was dumb od dont go see it cause of an abortion or something stupid... yea its bad but without sin jesus would have never died for us

You totally stumped these folks hahahah. I can't blame them though...EVERYTHING in the media is negative, so it's not surprising that it would rub off on people.
JCLPfreak102 Posted February 5, 2005 Posted February 5, 2005 yea people are starting to only focus on negatives, its really quite sad, it's mean the we treat the media's creations. I personally don't like it when people pick the bad stuff about me. I love to hear the positives though
jp2_rules Posted February 7, 2005 Posted February 7, 2005
Nice one john! You totally stumped these folks hahahah.
now that's not true. i've never even posted about a movie on here. i was just trying to explain one reason it may be the way it is. i do love to hear positives, but what i said made perfect sense. i'm a comm major, and learn ALL about media, and how it can be used both for good and bad. and it's not all bad. media is a medium to reach ppl, and whatever is shown is shown. it's not all negative and has a negative impact on everyone. it doesn't on me, at least. i can see many many positive things about it, and so much potential. it makes me excited, actually. i think there needs to be a balance of pos and neg comments, personally. but, often what causes ppl to post about a movie is a significant experience/opinion about something, and in the instance of many modern movies, it's often negative.
Specter Posted February 7, 2005 Posted February 7, 2005 I'm a HUGE movie fan, and want to direct a movie some day. I have a lot of GOOD things to say about movies.. eventually I may rub off on the lot here. lol

It's a program run by Catholic Barbara Nicolosi that helps shape Christian film writers. Check it out, if you're interested. You can get the link at Barbara's blog, http://www.churchofthemasses.blogspot.com
Specter Posted February 7, 2005 Posted February 7, 2005 Awesome Eremite! Thanks a ton! I'll definitely have a look at it.

cathqat Posted February 7, 2005 Posted February 7, 2005 My brother was in the Act One Program a couple of years ago, and I sent another friend this past summer. It is a great resource for any Christian who wants to get involved in writing for movies or TV.
HomeTeamFamily Posted February 8, 2005 Posted February 8, 2005 hey john, just because sin is present and without it Jesus could not have saved us, doesnt mean that we are to bask in it and completely ignore its presence in our daily lives, even in "minute" things such as movies the problem isnt that we are only looking at the bad, its that we have been desensitized by the bad so much that we dont recognize it anymore and therefore have a watered down idea of what actually is bad and what is good
