daugher-of-Mary Posted February 3, 2005 Posted February 3, 2005 Can someone point to some articles defending Christian observance of Sunday as the day of rest as opposed to Jewish Saturday Sabbath? Thanks!
Fides_et_Ratio Posted February 3, 2005 Posted February 3, 2005 We celebrate the resurrection of Christ (without which, our Christian faith would be in vain)... the resurrection is typically said to have taken place on Sunday. And as well there is a "sun"=SON connection. The sun provides, light, sustinence, life, etc.... and so does the Son. I saw a really good article about it (perhaps on EWTN)... I will search for it.
bamthor Posted February 3, 2005 Posted February 3, 2005 Try this one out. It looks good.

Specter Posted February 8, 2005 Posted February 8, 2005 Holy carp. I've not the time to read all of this, but someone I know just posted this: http://www.xanga.com/item.aspx?user=Cagey&...s&uid=200797861 Seems to be full of quite a few generalizations and assumptions, and presumptions.. but wow. Just wow.
phatcatholic Posted February 8, 2005 Posted February 8, 2005 blah, blah, blah, blah............ this girl misunderstands what true freedom is.......
franciscanheart Posted February 8, 2005 Posted February 8, 2005  what the heck?! over half the time the things she said dont even apply to the Catholic Church in any way and then when she does mention us its about child molestation. Sorry, it's not the only Church with this problem. It's not the Church. It's the people. It's the sinners that are human. And that happens everywhere. We just get the most media on it. and the pagan holiday thing! Why why why why why. This is full of all the same empty arguements that everyone with a dislike for our beautiful faith have tried for as long as I've been alive. This was ridiculous. And it made me frustrated. and now im gunna run around like a chicken with my head cut off because im running behind. oh the joys of the ignorant.
Specter Posted February 8, 2005 Posted February 8, 2005 I know it, I've read a lot of it, and my friend Julie also has, and we've found so many holes that we can poke in her argument that are just logical. It's another one of these outside that Church arguments that could sound great to other people outside the Church, but are illogical to people inside.
phatcatholic Posted February 9, 2005 Posted February 9, 2005 often times, it "sounds great" b/c its what they want to believe.....
