Before I converted (it'll be four years in another week), I worked at the local Christian book store and listened to KLOVE. I've been listening again a little bit lately and am wondering what Catholic bands/artists are good. The type of music I like is U2, Rich Mullins, Caedmon's Call, ColdPlay, Dave Matthews Band. Anything comparable or recommended in the Catholic music world?

THis is Dave from Critical Mass.

I'd invite you to have a listen to www.CatholicRock.com. Hope you enjoy our stuff.

Other bands to check out are Scarecrow and Tinmen, Kathy Troccoli, Rachael Lampa, Ceili Rain... in fact, I am sure there will be a number of people chiming in.

Matthew,

That is really beautiful!

Weird things we have in common: my husband's name is Matt, Matt and I converted to Catholicism together nearly four years ago, I lived in Virginia (Ivor) from 1980 to 1986.

Very cool. It has been a long journey for us. We come from very anti-catholic roots. This conversion took 3 times in the RCIA program and about 7 years. I began reading the church fathers a number of years ago to shed some light on my growing confusion. Mainly to find info on early christian morality and ethics. Gee, I found a little bit more than I went looking for. Very happy now, and going to a Franciscan parish (Francis is my buddy) Do you miss this beautiful state?

I do miss Virginia from time-to-time. Mostly because I have such great memories of our house in the country. My mom and I would love to go back and see if the house is still there.

What he said...

I interviewed Kathy Troccoli a few years ago and she is definitely Catholic. She returned to the Church after getting into Scott Hahn's books. However, she keeps VERY quiet about it.... it is an evangelical world for Christian artists...

Rich Mullins, as well, was about to become Catholic just prior to his death.

FOr more info, check out the interviews at http://www.catholicrock.com/cath/cath.html

If you like older Caedmon's Call stuff, check out Dave Regitz

His site seems to be down at the moment, but he's got a very similar style to early Caedmon's Call.

Apart from Matt Maher, Backyard Galaxy/Bob Rice is also good.

aloha, i can guarantee that you haven't heard all that Catholic music has to offer. Just because you don't like Matt's stuff, don't down the all of us.

I would have to suggest Seven Sorrows...otherwise my band members may kick me out

www.sevensorrows.com

if you don't like one song...go to another...we go from acoustic to screaming.
