I have a couple of questions about things I did that my examination of conscience booklet aren't clear on.

I have been having a hard time lately. This entire year has been difficult for me. I try not to allow myself to get angry with God, but occasionally it does happen. Yesterday I was driving to the store when something else went wrong, and I just felt myself snap. I was talking to God, but not being very kind. In fact, I had used some profanity. I was asking Him why He didn't help me more. I was extremely angry and wondered if He cared about me at all.

Another thing I try to avoid is self-pity. But, the other day, in a shameful moment, I thought to myself, "God doesn't even love me." Now, I don't really believe that, but at the time, the thought was in my head.

Also, I am so frustrated and exhausted sometimes, that I have picked up using profanity to vent. I had always been happy with the fact that I had been able to control myself enough to prevent using bad language, but that seems to have all gone out the window now.

So I want to know, are these mortal sins? Saying these things in the heat of the moment? I am ashamed of what I did. I can't help but wonder when this stress will ease up, and sometimes I get so upset that I blame God for not making it go away. I appreciate any answers, and please pray for me.

I would say they are not Mortal sins. I would say to doubt God, get angry with God, to use profanity in the heat of the moment are venial sins but have the potential to develop into something more serious the fact that you already ask the question shows for me your good faith.

There is a story, told in several different versions, about Teresa of Avilia when she was thrown from a horse she got up, dusted herself off, looked up to heaven and said "If this is the way you treat your friends then no wonder you have so many enemies". I don't know if it happened but I like to think of it as true.
