Ash Wednesday Posted February 26, 2005 Posted February 26, 2005
I've been eating fish these last three Fridays, which isn't much better, since it's still meat...
Fish is o.k. because it's not red meat. I had salmon cream coagulated milk on a bagel. Of course vegetarian is even better...
photosynthesis Posted February 26, 2005 Posted February 26, 2005 i totally forgot it was a Friday in Lent and ate chicken soup (with chicken meat in it). it was good chicken soup. i didn't eat any meat yesterday so maybe i can just switch the days...
jimbo Posted February 26, 2005 Posted February 26, 2005 I too accidently ate meat. Combo pizza at a friend's house. His sister is a veg-head, so they had eggplant pizza, but I forgot it was friday and ate the combo...
the_rev Posted February 26, 2005 Posted February 26, 2005 On Ash Wednesday, the homily of EWTN, did indeed say eating meat with intention to do so was a mortal sin.
Andrea348 Posted February 26, 2005 Posted February 26, 2005
For me having to eat McDonalds would be a penance.
i was had to do a middle school song fest yesterday with my kids and so i had to find someplace to grab dinner....i had a filet of fish sandwich at mcdonalds.....it was definately like doing a penance, that thing was gross, but i ate it anyway
Mary's Knight, La Posted February 26, 2005 Posted February 26, 2005 processed fish (fish patties, sticks, strips) is pretty much always a penance. though I think during lent the church does say with exceptions provided for in cannon law you must abstain from meat. it's the other fridays where you pick your fast/abstaining.
