Priest wearing cologne

I'd rather have a nice smelling priest than a stank one. If he's going so far as to apply cologne because of his pursuit of sex, he probably wouldn't have become a priest.

No, I think I'd have to disagree about cologne hiding your stink. If you had B. O., then if you put on cologne you'd smell like B. O. and cologne! :P

Ash Wednesday

When I was a kid we used to laugh at the "B & O Railroad" slot on Monopoly.

"You landed on B&O! You might as well BUY IT because you're the King of B.O.!"

That and when I was filing my state taxes for my business, there was a section going over "B & O Tax" and it made me chuckle just thinking about both that and us as giggling Monopoly kids.

I am in total support with priest being both up to date with Hegine and physically fitness. I think it strengthens one's character and life. I say let them where their cologne just not to much.

hmmm i dunno depends on the priest. but I hate it when young guys wear cologne just for every day. I dont mind older guys but younger guys..... just seems silly to me. but I do really like cologne when guys dress up!

Ash Wednesday

It could be something simple like aftershave, too. I think as it is, it might not be a big deal. It could be just be habit or morning ritual he had before seminary that never went away, and never really gave much thought. Ya know, every morning splash on some Old Spice or whatever after shaving, out of habit.

I wear my Coco Chanel on very special days when I just want to feel like life is special and to be celebrated. It has nothing to do with dating or dudes or anything like that. I just think of the time I was visiting my cousin in Germany and we were all having such a blast -- some of the best days of my life -- and one day before an outing, she said "Time for some Coco!" and I literally thought she meant hot chocolate. :rolling: But she meant the perfume. So I bought a bottle of my own when I came back home.

So when it's a Coco day, it's a special day.
No, you're totally missing the point. You know what they say assuming does, don't you? At any rate, cologne is usually associated with attracting others, at least if those cologne commercials are any indication, although it seems now that, judging from the other responses, that's not necessarily the case. Actually, I'd have felt the same way if the priest was straight. But considering what others have said, I think I'll be changing my position.
I know a priest who wears cologne. Possibly cuz in my culture, we spray ourselves down. It's not something of attractiveness neccisarily. It has to do with class.

You are the one worried about the guys sexuality.

"... this priest acted rather effeminately what with the way he talked, certain mannerisms, etc. I wouldn't be surprised if he was gay. So if he is in fact gay, then to me his wearing of cologne could possibly give people the wrong idea"

What is wrong with any man wanting to smell good, whether he is a priest or not.?

I really think it is fine to wear cologne or perfume sometimes. The problem is no matter what the reason, because we want to smell good, for ourselves, for our culture, it still may have an effect on people around us. I don't know about guys, but girls are so into smell. Someone mentioned that Axe commercial, and I totally agree with him. The girls in the commercial are acting sensually with objects because they smell good. Imagine what it does to women when a man smells really good. I've hear young girls talking about having a crush on a guy just cause of the smell of a his cologne. It could also be a form of vanity, if you get really attached to wearing a certain scent.

I'm really not saying that no one should ever smell good, but just that no matter what our intentions or reasons are, we still should be careful. If you shower and wear deodorant, you're not gonna smell bad anyway. You'll smell fresh and clean, which is a lot nicer on a day to day basis.

The saints probably avoided these things all together.
