inDEED Posted March 9, 2005 Posted March 9, 2005 There certainly are free Photoshop programs...but they're the pirated ones...
disturbedxfairy Posted March 9, 2005 Author Posted March 9, 2005 hmm... don't really think my dad would be too keen on the idea of me having pirated software
disturbedxfairy Posted March 10, 2005 Author Posted March 10, 2005 cool, thanks. i'll go check it out
disturbedxfairy Posted March 10, 2005 Author Posted March 10, 2005 (edited) i found it but i'm having trouble downloading it. any tips? Edited March 10, 2005 by disturbedxfairy
shelly_freak Posted March 10, 2005 Posted March 10, 2005 So is this GIMP worth downloading? I had photoshop but see my dad has this fun little thing he likes to do whenever he goes on my computer where he delets random things. I don't even have paint right now and he deleted solitare, it's bad.
DemonSlayer Posted March 11, 2005 Posted March 11, 2005 You can download an executeable install files for Gimp, here (the Gimp.org website only has source code that needs to be complied to install) You'll need to download and install both the Gimp and GTK +2 files.
shelly_freak Posted March 11, 2005 Posted March 11, 2005 I got it and made this signature with it. I think it's pretty good for my first
disturbedxfairy Posted March 11, 2005 Author Posted March 11, 2005 when i click on the thing to download it it says
You are requesting file: /gimp-win/gtk+-2.6.4-setup.zip Please select a mirror
what does "please select a mirror" mean?
shelly_freak Posted March 11, 2005 Posted March 11, 2005 I just picked one, I don't think it makes a diff. You don't have to sign up for anything.
journeyman Posted March 12, 2005 Posted March 12, 2005 a mirror is another site with the same data - for those with slow modems, sometimes picking a mirror closer to home - or in a time zone with low traffic - results in slightly faster download times - generally the suggestion is to go for the one closest to you - US users would use a USA site - East Coast would choose East Coast site over a west coast site; European users would use one in Europe; Asia would download from Asia . . .
GuardianoftheSacraments Posted March 12, 2005 Posted March 12, 2005 I don't mind pirated material , I mean as long as I'm using them for the good. hehe, But seriously are their any free sights for photoshop that I can download? Peace and Blessings -Guardian-

crusader1234 Posted March 12, 2005 Posted March 12, 2005 A mirror site is a site with a server closer to where you live so its faster I think.
Ash Wednesday Posted March 12, 2005 Posted March 12, 2005 Okay I'm gonna catch flack for this, but taking software that isn't paid for, and yet should be, is seriously wrong. Even if it's just for personal use, you're still encouraging pirates to distribute, and they will distribute to anyone, including people in the art field that use photoshop for free that are willing to make unfair profits like that. It's things like this that increase the price of software and make it more expensive for those of us that DO buy software because we need it to make our living and want to do it honestly and keep the economics real. Unless it's open source, if it's something that's meant to be paid for, you pay for it. Just because many people have pirated software does not make it okay. If you want photoshop for personal use and not for profit, buy the education version. It's cheaper. You can also get it on ebay for a good price and you can own it legit. No personal offense intended to anyone. It's just that some of us do pay for the software...
disturbedxfairy Posted March 12, 2005 Author Posted March 12, 2005 i just downloaded gimp and i'm not too sure how i like it. i want my old photoshop back. maybe i'll just buy it.
