I was checking out the Baptist Board (was reading another thread and decided to check it out). anyway... they have a Baptist Women's Private Forum and Baptist Men's Private Forum. both password protected. is there a way we could get something like that on phatmass (but Catholic :P )

Coming from someone who was active in that forum on the Baptistboard, all it is is a waste of bandwidth. What the women talk about in the women's forum is what is talked about in the NFP forum, and what we don't talk about in the NFP forum that the ladies do in the Women's forum is their complaints about their husbands and other gossip.

The men's forum is basically the same. What they talk about in both those forums is covered in the NFP forum.

well i was asking 'cause a few people asked about a thread awhile ago where girls could go to talk about the problems and issues that they deal with with other girls and the guys could do the same. i want a place where i can go and talk about my struggles without worrying about what a guy will think.

I understand what you're saying, but I'm just telling you, from experience, what those forums were really used for.

We do have a yahoo group for girls only.. its not used that frequently, to be honest, but if any girls want a place to go where they can discuss girl things privately (and don't have access or are not comfortable with posting it in the NFP forum) they are welcome to join. ya, although there would probably be limited things you might want to talk exclusively with others of the same sex with, it probably wouldn't be popular enough to warrant a whole separate board.

The NFP phorum should be enough for the basic stuff.... anything much deeper I would suggest talking to a friend.

And we definately don't want exclusive little gossip boards. (well at least I don't THINK dUSt would really want that)

i'm not talking about gossip boards. i remember someone mentioned starting a thread for girls talking about their struggles with lust and etc and everyone was all for it. i was just giving an idea of how we could get something like that.

Discussing a woman's difficulty for lust would be quite appropiate for an NFP forum. Remember, we're all on the same journey and we're called to help others along the way.

I do apologize. I work full time and have limited time on Phatmass, and on the internet itself.

I should be able to get back to you tomorrow at the latest.

My apologies.

*for those who may not get a reply from me, and it's been a while, don't be afraid to PM me again remindig me. I try my best to get everyone a speedy reply, but please remember, limited time = limited abilites.*

Remember, it wasn't directed at you, but to everyone, so that they have a reminder ;)

Well, I think it would be beneficial, simply because I'm on another forum for my youth group that has one and it's quite successful. I think there are a broad range of things that could be discussed on such a forum, and I personally don't think it's exactly fair to deprive certain people of access to such topics. By using the NFP board for such a reason, you make it quite difficult for those not included in that forum to converse about topics specific to their gender. Using female lust as an example, to have room for that on the NFP forum mildly implies that younger women and/or unmarried women do not struggle with such problems. I don't know, to me it seems helpful. Just a thought! ^_^

I think that it's a good idea. We should have it. Guys and gals may be equal, but we're not the same. It be of good use.

Being unmarried does not disqualify an individual from being allowed in the NFP forum.

Using my past experience, I just don't see it being used for it's original purpose for a very long time.

but also the thing about the NFP phorum is that both guys and girls are on it. i'd rather not talk about my personal struggles with guys being able to read it. it's just one of those things that you'd feel more comfortable talking about with just a group of girls

that's understandble, MBA...

besides, there's not really anything we cand do about it...not when other have that white and yellow icon and we don't

I could be wrong, but who's to guarantee that those who are claiming to be girls on the internet are really girls? And boys, boys?

My point is this:

This is the internet. You do form some friendships, but who on the net is going to concern themselves (gossipy wise) about what personal information you share?

I'd rather not have to see more controversy....

That's my opinion, and my opinion only. Take it or leave it.
