Fiat_Voluntas_Tua Posted March 17, 2005 Posted March 17, 2005 Blessings and Peace! I have a large task on my hands... I have to write a 7-10 page paper for Philosophy of Nature. I am going to write about Providence and Chance and how, Aristotle states that things that come into existence (done) by chance are not for an end. But Aquinas states that God's Divine Providence is among us all in our every actions... And I will be relating the two. Any ideas on where I should find info? Please pray for me...This is going to be stressful. Totus Tuus, Andrew Jospeh "Be not afraid."
Paphnutius Posted March 17, 2005 Posted March 17, 2005 I think St. Gregory the Great wrote a lot about providence.
Paphnutius Posted March 17, 2005 Posted March 17, 2005 (edited) Just curious if you are going to attempt to reconcile the two points or simply have the two enter into a dialectic. I would be interested for I have some thoughts of my own and would like to see what you come up with. Edited March 17, 2005 by Paphnutius
phatcatholic Posted March 18, 2005 Posted March 18, 2005 are you just supposed to give a general overview of what they believed and why, or can you take a stand and defend one position?
argent_paladin Posted March 18, 2005 Posted March 18, 2005 Well, the Summa of course, esp. Q 22 and 23. This article is a good introduction: http://radicalacademy.com/studentrefphil6h.htm Here's some bibliography: http://www.uh.edu/~cfreelan/courses/causes.biblio.html I took Philosphy of Nature three years ago and almost wrote my final paper on that subject. I hope you share your findings. Good luck (or should I say God Bless?)
