Paladin D Posted March 18, 2005 Posted March 18, 2005 So far, the MSNBC poll "Who should decide Terri Schiavo's fate?": Parents 35%; Husband 65%. CNN "Was it appropriate for Congress to get involved in the legal battle over a brain-damaged Florida woman?": Yes 20%; No 80% Fox News "Should the president get involved in the Terri Schiavo matter?": Yes 26%; No 69%; Not Sure 5% Our society is going down the drain, big time.
St. Catherine Posted March 18, 2005 Posted March 18, 2005 I noticed the poll numbers and was also quite upset about the outcome of them all. Even if they are not scientific. What are these people thinking?
Paladin D Posted March 18, 2005 Author Posted March 18, 2005
I noticed the poll numbers and was also quite upset about the outcome of them all. Even if they are not scientific. What are these people thinking?
They should have a poll that states "If you were Terri, would you want to starve to death?"
MagiDragon Posted March 18, 2005 Posted March 18, 2005 i dunno, those seem to be reaonably worded. i think americans are just ready to let people go ahead and kill each other. Peace, Joe
BullnaChinaShop Posted March 18, 2005 Posted March 18, 2005 The other alternative explanation is that the general public is ignorant of the full story and believes Terri is in a persistent vegetative state and that her faithful hsuband is just trying to put her out of her misery.
BullnaChinaShop Posted March 18, 2005 Posted March 18, 2005
*snort* faithful? ha!
Without knowing the story of his indescresions then that is what the average person would think.
DonCamillo Posted March 18, 2005 Posted March 18, 2005 There are two issues: (1) Whether it is wrong or not, and (2) the legality of the case. (1) For us catholics, it is wrong to terminate a life. So we won't discuss this. (Terminating Terri's life was wrong.) (2) As for the legality: Who should decide Teri fate? (1) Parents or (2) Husband or (3) congress or (4) president? I think too that it should be the Husband. As a married person, I want my wife to decide of those matters and certainly not my parents, not congress and not the president. So here I agree with the majority of the poll. Even though I think that it was wrong to terminate her life, I think that it is her husband who should decide. Now, we should have a law that bans euthanasia so this does not happen.
Mrs. Bro. Adam Posted March 18, 2005 Posted March 18, 2005 I'm sorry, but what faithful spouse wants their spouse to starve to death? Think about it.
St. Catherine Posted March 18, 2005 Posted March 18, 2005 The key word there is "faithful." He is obviously not, he has his new family.
DonCamillo Posted March 18, 2005 Posted March 18, 2005 I see what you mean, but I still would want my wife to make this judgement. I completely trust her. And I thrust her more than I trust my parent, or congress, or the president. Even if she would make the wrong choice, I would still entrust my life to her.
Extra ecclesiam nulla salus Posted March 18, 2005 Posted March 18, 2005 What is this country coming to... I am afriad that the cultural of death is growing. Only we can defeat it
1337 k4th0l1x0r Posted March 18, 2005 Posted March 18, 2005 New poll: What do you hope happens to Michael Schiavo after Terri dies? (1) Lives a long happy life with new wife (2) Burns in hell
geetarplayer Posted March 18, 2005 Posted March 18, 2005 This is an absolute atrocity. If they're going to kill her, why drag it out? -Mark
jasJis Posted March 18, 2005 Posted March 18, 2005 (edited) Extreme caution and an open mind is needed when evaluating the polls. As DonCamillo points out, the spouse has a priority over the parents, ESPCECIALLY in a Sacramental Marriage. For a spouse's rights and authority to be removed and the parent's moved over the spous, the spouse has to be legally proven to have committed a crime. Morally it's obvious that the husband is evil and wrong, but when we allow the Government to intercede in a marriage to do this good thing for Terri, you open the door for people to manipulate the law and government to weaken the rights and sanctity of spouses within a marriage. I think it's shameful for Catholics to discuss killing the husband. Yes, he might legally get away with murdering his wife, Terri. But I trust in God's perfect judgement and sure punishment and know He will mete out (for eternity) exactly what Terri's husband deserves. Edited March 18, 2005 by jasJis
Iacobus Posted March 19, 2005 Posted March 19, 2005 As a poltical matter I am greatly upset by the Republicans in Washington getting involved. State's rights... yeh.... This should be a state issue, decided at the state level. I think we all agree on how to is to be decided.
littleflower+JMJ Posted March 19, 2005 Posted March 19, 2005 i dunno i've been praying for them--to save a person who has no chance right now in the state of florida
