Hey everyone,

My senior prom is on a friday in Mid-May, and my time for adoration in the new chapel at my church is friday nights. I am torn as to what to do. My time before the Lord is always been really important to me and I'm not sure what do... What do you guys think I should do? I know I'll already get static from my parents about missing this "once in a lifetime opportunity"...

thank you :)

Can't you miss an hour of the prom to go to adoration? And bring your date with you... ;)

Go to prom. Get someone to sub for you at Adoration.

Agreed.

Well, you don't sound thrilled about going to prom, but I could be reading that wrong. Can you switch your adoration time with someone else? That's if it is a schedule or something. If not, I would just go earlier that day.

Sidenote...I went to all my proms and others too, and I was "trying" to live morally, but it was hard there! I went to a catholic high school, but the music was vulgar, the dancing was obscene, and i ended up partying. Not that you will do those things, but you might not enjoy it anyway.

It can be a really fun night, too, if you are able to see past those things and enjoy the night with your date.

Hope that helps!!

personally i like Jesus more than any one else. so i would go to Adoration and pray for the people at prom, so that they dont do anything stupid afterwards...

a couple hours with people or a couple hours with Jesus...

Indeed. I mean sure, the high school dances I went to (especially prom) were fun, but really, I could've lived without going to them. I say, if you have your heart set on going to prom, then try to get someone to cover for you, or you could still go to Adoration, and just arrive fashionably late to the prom. ^_^ There are many options, it just depends on how big of a priority each thing is to you personally. God bless, and best of luck with making your decision. :)

Go to Adoration. After Adoration is over go home. Have all your friends over after the dance is over and do the VA Reel in the middle of the street.

Yes, I am odd but I would do that.

go to prom!.....mine was a blast.....we as catholics are exspected to live for christ....meaning influencing situations that could become immoral....plus it is just a good time.....i think that you would regret missing it

Well think about it... Adoration is what every Friday? Well go another Friday night. Attend Prom. It's the last social event of high school that is Student Government & School sponsored. It's your last real social event. Who knows, you may be able to turn some heads at prom with your awesome Catholic faith! Just go in with your head high, things might tempt you, but you seem like a big enough girl to get through it. Do what I do, I go to homecoming and all of that stuff every year. I just wear my St. Michael the Archangel and it pretty much keeps me from doing anything I know I'm going to regret.

However, it's up to you. I'm going to Prom this year!

go to Prom. Behave and be a good example...
You can go to Adoration another night, but your Prom is a one time thing.

It's your choice, but I do not think Anyone will hold it against you if you go.

I agree with HSmom. Or maybe see if you can switch hours with someone and take an hour before or after prom. ;)
