liberalism and my school

I was at my school today, minding my own bussiness, when i heard a kid I know laughing at the fact that Terri Shiavo is being starved to death and he made the rudest most horrible coments about it ever! I was so disgusted! I go to a very liberal quaker school. They think that Homosexuality is a good practice. They are for Euthanasia, abortion, and contraception. I am about the only conservative their, besides my twin brother. I am the only Catholic there as well. They think im Crazy because im a Catholic and am relegious. THey think that i Am intolerant because i am not for Homosexual rights, or Contrapection. I am ridiculed constantly. When i hear a disgusting coment about the starvation of Terri Shiavo, i just snap. I have to at least inform them about the case, which they know nothing about. But then people think I'm even crasier. Today after school i was trying to inform someone about this issue, when a students father came in to get his son. He then heard me talking to another student. for a half and hour the boy's Father told me why i was basically an uniformed kid with no life experience, and that everything that i believe is wrong. I was wondering if anyone could give me advice about what to do. Should i just keep my mouth shut? I was also wondering if anyone else could share any other similar experiences about bieng discriminated because they were Catholic.

yours in christ,

Sam

Never just keep your mouth shut... well unless it's your parent or the bishop...

seriously, you're right.

don't cast pearls before swine. If their hearts are too hard, save your breath...and pray for them instead of trying to teach them.

Please don't call liberalism the "easy way out", the truth is conservativism can be an even easier way out.

I'm liberal and a devout Catholic. Yes, yes, we do exist!

I wholeheatedly agree with shelly_freak. Conservatism is indeed an easy way out for many.

I totally agree. I went to a very Protestant school for a while and had to deal with a lot of stuff there. There was a story in our English book that called Catholics heretics. And that was just the least of my problems. We were required to watch movies like the Left Behind series, but the movies we watched had no theological basis whatsoever, in the Catholic church nor in the Protestant faith.

I guess what I'm trying to say is that if talking to them isn't helping, just pray for them. Carry a rosary with your and touch it each time you want to snap at someone. Always remeber that Our Lady is ALWAYS with you!!!

i think it is funny that he said that you dont know anything because you havent had "life experiance".......that is just rediculous and illogical.......

if you do say something...dont argue....discuss.....people dont listen to arguers.....

good luck....mainly just pray for them.....

Many things including the Terri Shiavo case cannot just be grouped into either liberal or conservative. I am a liberal, but I think starving people to death is despicable. To me being liberal means being progressive, and by no means is killing people progressive.

Liberalism is an error from the moment it started in the 18th century (albeit a different liberalism). Liberalism as it stands now is progression towards humanism and naturalism. Both terribly erronous paths. The stories of Our Lady of Fatima and Lourdes should give an insight on liberalism, naturalism, and humanism(there is a good kind, just not the one we aim for now).

You should not stop. We are not to cast pearls before swine, but even the hardened heart is breakable. Pray often, and work hard to put forth your Faith. Know that not only do you fight before the devil's slaves, but so does the archangel Michael. He wields his sword and will combat the demons the Enemy has called to destroy you and your cause. Mary protects you, as you are Her child. Pray to St. Louis IX, he is a true crusader, and will aid you in dispelling evil. The first way to get anyone to listen is to cast away a life of sin and take up your cross in a state of Grace. If you are not in a state of Grace, cease and desist, and fix yourself up from the inside and then get ready to battle on the outside.

This is a good site to go to for the courage needed to fight the enemies that stand before us (the rest of the site leans on traditionalism, but the link is good) :

my school is very similar, and I am like one of three people who share my Catholic views that I know of. It is good that you speak up and say something. It is even harder for me in that I want so much to defend the faith but almost always say nothing at all, so no one really knows that I am Catholic. what I notice most is that almost all my classes, especially my literature class takes a completely humanist and liberal curriculum. All or our books are very post-modern,

so our Mine! In Sex-education class we talk about contraception. I wouldn't touch the paper with the pictures and descriptions on it. At our school they teach evoultion and the such (a theory that in no way has been proven). But thank you all for your help.

Work harder to convert them. There is a plauge that needs purging.

Keep up the good fight!

And (while this would propbably be a better topic for the debate forum) the issue is not whether liberalism or conservatism is "easy," it is which is true.

I think that Aspects of both are true. I don't like Liberals indifference to justice, their support of homosexuals, their distaste for releigon, abortion, Euthanasia, contraception ETC. I do like that conservatise it for relegion and agianst homosexuals, abortion, Euthanasia and contraception. But Liberals seem to act more respectful and less condemening or people. They also are more charitable. I think (In america) that someone should make a Catholic Party. That way Catholics could stick together, and i think many of the new hispanic immigrants would join. We could control the country.
