i was reading two books that i thought were very good so far, and thought some other people might like to check them out or comment...

The New Faithful: Why Young Adults are Embracing Christian Orthodoxy, by Colleen Carroll

and

Young and Catholic, by tim drake

i had to give them back to my friend after reading the first few chapters, but they were really interesting and i can't wait to finish :D

one that i actually finished and recommend for anyone is wild at heart by john eldredge...not specifically catholic, but some good interesting views nonetheless ;-)

Same here.

Has anyone read "He Chose The Nails" by Max Lucado?

If so is it any good?

I really liked The Girl I Left Behind and Deep River, both by Shusaku Endo. There aren't many Japanese Catholic authors out there. ^_^

Just finished two books by Thomas H. Green, S.J. Weeds Among the Wheat, about discernment, and Drinking from a Dry Well, about (advanced) contemplative prayer.

Both were bought to answer to particular questions, and both books delivered. But, for some reason I found them hard to read. I seem to have that trouble with Jesuit stuff. Can't read St. Ignatius at all... and I have no trouble with any other saint's writing!

Anyway, I recommend Weeds Among the Wheat if anyone needs help on how to go about discerning God's will in your life. It was very thorough. For contemplative prayer there are better choices than Drinking from a Dry Well unless, of course, you have the same particular question that I had. :)

I totally recommend Young and Catholic, by Tim Drake

...okay, I've never actually read it  , but I have babysat for Tim Drake's family, and his family is really awesome. His two year old son recognized St. Michael on my St. Michael's medal. I know I wouldn't have when I was 2. His four year old told me she wanted to be a nun. If his family is like that, how can his book not be good?

Carroll was on EWTN before. I remember thinking her book looked really interesting. I'll have to add it to my reading list.
