Dreamweaver Posted April 2, 2005 Posted April 2, 2005
Oh, and did you see the Executive directive by President Bush: As a mark of respect for His Holiness Pope John Paul II, I hereby order, by the authority vested in me by the Constitution and laws of the United States of America, that the flag of the United States shall be flown at half‑staff at the White House and on all public buildings and grounds, at all military posts and naval stations, and on all naval vessels of the Federal Government in the District of Columbia and throughout the United States and its Territories and possessions until sunset on the day of his interment. I also direct that the flag shall be flown at half‑staff for the same period at all United States embassies, legations, consular offices, and other facilities abroad, including all military facilities and naval vessels and stations.
Wow, thats awesome. I'd hate to see the stink that liberals will raise over "separation of Church and State".... Though he may not be Catholic, he has great respect for JP2. And that I love.

Nathan Posted April 2, 2005 Posted April 2, 2005 I am no fan of President Bush, but that is a classy move on his part.
Yeah...working for the Kerry campaign will do that to you... I have my suspicions...maybe I'm just noticing something everyone else knows...but I've been gone all Lent...and I smell a phish... In the Name of Christ, I offer friendship, but if my suspicions are true, there is fraternal chastisement in order.
Ash Wednesday Posted April 2, 2005 Posted April 2, 2005 Haha. If people think that the next pope is going to be some John Kerry-like figure... dream on. :haha:

Look forward to being anchored between the Eucharist and Mary...it's going to happen, and then the enemy ships will begin to fire on one another.
ironmonk Posted April 3, 2005 Posted April 3, 2005 (edited)
MC_Just, just because I ask questions does not mean that I want to see changes made. When I ask an "unorthodox" question, it's usually because something doesn't quite make sense to me -- and I would like to understand it more fully. One thing I've learned about Catholicism since I've been moved to explore it (I'm in RCIA) is that there's almost always a pretty good reason for the way things are. Asking questions is a good and healthy thing, even in the Catholic Church.
Asking questions and finding the answers is our obligation. That is how we learn. The problem occurs when Catholics fail to find the answers or go off of hear say, and they assume answers. Questioning is foolish without finding an answer. I'm not saying you, I'm saying this because of some people at Catholic schools tell kids to 'question the faith', but the kids take it as 'question and come up with the answer out of the air'. Here are some great resources that answer questions like women priesthood: http://www.Catholic.com (be sure to check out the links in blue on the left of the page) http://www.ScirptureCatholic.com <- over 2000 verses that show Catholic teaching... the bible is of course a Catholic book, but this puts it into a light that non-Catholics can understand God Bless, ironmonk Edited April 3, 2005 by ironmonk
