Mrs. Bro. Adam Posted April 2, 2005 Posted April 2, 2005 Just think, in the future, after canonized, this will be our Papa's feast day~
curtins Posted April 2, 2005 Posted April 2, 2005 thats very true- hes with God now so can we start praying to him?
Mrs. Bro. Adam Posted April 2, 2005 Author Posted April 2, 2005 Yes, we can start asking for his prayers.
Thy Geekdom Come Posted April 2, 2005 Posted April 2, 2005
thats very true- hes with God now so can we start praying to him?
You may, but he is not publically venerable, so any prayers for his intercession must be kept to yourself, as far as I know.
Ash Wednesday Posted April 2, 2005 Posted April 2, 2005 Let us pray FOR him first, for now. I know he would want that.
Mrs. Bro. Adam Posted April 2, 2005 Author Posted April 2, 2005 Lord, bless your faithful servant, Pope John Paul II
Catholictothecore Posted April 2, 2005 Posted April 2, 2005 yes, pray for him for a while first...but, you know, to be canonized, the need be a few miracles attributed to his intercession....hmmm.
argent_paladin Posted April 2, 2005 Posted April 2, 2005 Yeah, poor St. Francis de Paolo, hermit. Today is his feast. Perhaps they will celebrate it on April 3rd, since that seems to be free.
Tony Posted April 2, 2005 Posted April 2, 2005 does Encouraging devoutions to him count as "public veneration"?
philothea Posted April 2, 2005 Posted April 2, 2005 AFAIK, "public veneration" would be led by clergy, or held in a church building.
Apotheoun Posted April 2, 2005 Posted April 2, 2005 O Lord grant eternal rest, in blessed Dormition, to the ever-remembered soul of your servant Pope John Paul II, and make his memory eternal.
Maddalena Posted April 2, 2005 Posted April 2, 2005 I know there's already a patron saint for the internet, but considering he was the first Pope to use the internet, I think he could be one, too.
jgirl Posted April 3, 2005 Posted April 3, 2005 I think he would definitely be a patron of youth... He did as much for us at Bosco did back in his day. Think of how many people consider the Pope at least somewhat important in their vocational discernment stories. I know I do!
cmotherofpirl Posted April 3, 2005 Posted April 3, 2005 He did make it to Divine Mercy Sunday anticpiated Mass in his room. Thank you God for that blessing.
