Extra ecclesiam nulla salus Posted April 10, 2005 Posted April 10, 2005 o sir i belive i have!
A) The Bible states clearly that the God abhors tattooing and body piecing because it mutilates the body "You shall not make any cuttings in your flesh for the dead, nor shall you make in yourselves any figures or marks: I am the Lord" (Leviticus 19:28). The Fifth Commandment also forbids unnecessary harming of one's body, the Temple of the Holy Spirit, as St. Paul calls it. The practice of tattooing and piercing involves an unnecessary medical risk of acquiring the dangerous viruses Hepatitis C or HIV. These virus, once acquired through such practices can lie dormant in the body for an extended period after the tattooing or body piercing incident. There is no cure for Hepatitis C or AIDS and both end in death. Altering the body can be justified only on the supposition that it is necessary or useful toward obtaining some physical benefit such as, pierced ears which eliminates the pain of clip on ear rings or a necessary operation for ones health
infection. Permenat scarring. I belive HIV and hepatitics is defilment of the body? don't you
Brother Adam Posted April 10, 2005 Posted April 10, 2005 (edited) Be real. I didn't suggest someone should get tattoo'd by someone behind the dark alley. Modern tattoo and piercing establishments use brand new sterilized equipement, and anything that is commonly used over (never needles) is placed through a sterilization process (and we aren't just talking about an alcohol swab, I don't remember the technical name for the machine but it heats instruments to well over the required health and safety minimum. There is no risk of AIDS or Hepatitis. Edited April 10, 2005 by Brother Adam
Extra ecclesiam nulla salus Posted April 10, 2005 Posted April 10, 2005 you ignored the other part of my argument. I sense hostility in your written words. which i did not mean to bring about especially here. I feel that i am making a rift here, and i don't want to do that. so i will cease now.
Brother Adam Posted April 10, 2005 Posted April 10, 2005 (edited) It's not hostility, it is surprise that you would use such faulty arguments. Telling people that they are in sin for having a piercing or tattoo without good solid cause can cause more rifts. The second part of your argument I'm guessing is the risk of scarring? It all depends if you are careless. Should a child never get to go out doors and play for risk he may one day get hurt? Edited April 10, 2005 by Brother Adam
exactly. do it by yourself, risk scarring and all that other carp. get it done by a trained professional and follow thier guides for proper care of the piercing and you should be fine.
MagiDragon Posted April 10, 2005 Posted April 10, 2005
I'm going to give you an honest reply... Often I see women with their midriffs showing and their belly button pierced. If you knew what goes through a guy's mind when presented with such a spectacle, I think you would reconsider. Should you? No. If you do, will you get attention? Yes, but maybe not the kind you want.
TCW is absolutely right here. When i see a girl with a pierced belly button, my thought's usually go something like this: "Wow, she's pretty . . . too bad she's so desperate for attention that she'll flaunt her body. I wonder if she cares about herself . . . prolly not. Oh well, it's probably not worth paying attention to her . . . her body probably gets plenty of attention from other guys anyway." Then i turn away. When i see a girl who's clothed modestly, it usually goes a little differently: "Wow, she's pretty . . . she's probably a Christian . . . could she be Catholic? i don't see any Catholic medals on her, but that doesn't mean she's not cool. I might want to try talking with her." Then if an opportunity presents itself, i'll usually talk with her. I *really* wouldn't recommend piercing anything other than your ears. It's not sinful it's just one of those indicators of what you hold important.
Brother Adam Posted April 10, 2005 Posted April 10, 2005 It is all in your intentions and how you carry yourself.
hopeful1 Posted April 10, 2005 Author Posted April 10, 2005 (edited)
Or buy a certain snowboarding helmet that would actually frame your face and protect you from harm!
i could, but i'm afraid it's not going to do much good for me in Florida thank you for all your replies. i don't think i would do it to flaunt my body so much, and i definately wouldn't want to get the wrong kind of attention for it afterwards. That's one of the reasons why i'd be afraid to do it. however, i was intrested in what guys thought about it b/c i thought maybe my future husband would like it, but i guess that would just make him lust after me instead. i dunno. -_- Edited April 10, 2005 by hopeful1
shelly_freak Posted April 10, 2005 Posted April 10, 2005 I want my nose and cartlige (sp?) pierced and 2 tattos, I guess I'm a wild girl at heart

That's just my first impression when i see girls with their naval rings showing. So in your case it may be ok. But i wouldn't recommend it. If you're doing it for your husband, maybe you should just ask him? I doubt it would really cause much lust in a marital relationship. Personally, i'd never ask my wife to do that simply because i'd see it as an unnecessary risk. Infections just aren't cool. (Plus i don't think naval rings are *that* attractive.) God Bless, Joe
Zoecool13 Posted April 10, 2005 Posted April 10, 2005 To each is their own... Naval piercings definately do bring about a certain thought process in a guy's mind as magi suggested, but not always. Whether pierced or not, a girl showing her belly button in my opinion is showing to much. So with that, the naval piercing question is unnecessary because it's covered up all the time. If you want to do it for your husband, wait until you get a husband and ask him. As for other piercings, personally, I find some other ones attractive. I'm not talking Dennis Rodman 99 piercings, but the nose or the eyebrow or even the lip is kind of attractive in my eyes.
God Conquers Posted April 10, 2005 Posted April 10, 2005 ya.... er.... a naval piercing pretty much is just designed to draw the eyes towards the "belt area".... not a good place to be looking if you ask me.
Anna Posted April 10, 2005 Posted April 10, 2005
ya.... er.... a naval piercing pretty much is just designed to draw the eyes towards the "belt area".... not a good place to be looking if you ask me.
I totally agree. To put jewels in your navel is to draw attention to it. Not to worry whether your future husband will like it, what about all the other young men, whose eyes would be drawn to it (regardless of whether there's a wedding band on the finger or not!) Our Lady of Fatima warned the three shepherd children that some fashions would be introduced which would greatly offend her Immaculate Heart. So many women's & girls' fashions these days really exploit women -- and exploit men's inclination to lust, that we can easily see her prophecy fulfilled.
Thy Geekdom Come Posted April 11, 2005 Posted April 11, 2005
I think piercings anywhere other than on your ears is unattractive and tends to make girls look stupid.
StColette has a bellybutton piercing. Watch out for who you call stupid.
Yes...if it's visible. It can also be a sign of personality...a girl who gets a bellybutton piercing seems to me to have a certain sense of fun in her personality. It doesn't have to be immodest.
