She made a comment about some newscaster asking a question and that he replied, "that is a first grade question." I, on the other hand, think that he was being stern and making the point that the media already knows the Church's answer and is just looking for a sound bite.

gonzaga Posted April 16, 2005 Posted April 16, 2005 It seems a lot of people are thinking, "oh man, he would be like the first black pope in years, that so cool man" just as well the other cardinals don't think this way.
Guest Eremite Posted April 16, 2005 Posted April 16, 2005 I think it would be cool to have a black Pope, just as it was cool to have a Polish Pope. A lot of people don't like the Pope, period. It would be nice to tick them off even more with a black one. The Cardinals aren't thinking about his skin color, but they ARE thinking about where he comes from (Africa). The Church in Africa is shaping up to define the next chapter in Church history.

His personality, his talks, the things he's put out regarding the liturgy and interreligious dialogue, etc. is why he's awesome. Kinda like phatmass, people are like what? "Phat" mass? Hmm, maybe I'll see what that's about... then when they get to the source of what we're about they are hit with 100% orthodoxy. I think the same is kinda true with Arinze's ethnicity. People are like what? A black pope? Hmmm, I wonder what he's all about... then they get hit with 100% orthodoxy.
