I was thinking of Buying a five-fold scapular and wearing it. does anyone wear a five fold scapular or anyone of the following scapulars:

The Red Scapular of the Passion," then the "The Scapular of the Most Blessed Trinity," the "The Brown Scapular of our Lady of Mount Carmel," the "The Black Scapular of the Seven Dolors of Mary," and the The Blue Scapular of the Immaculate Conception."

from what i understand any priest can invest you with this scapular.

their are all these rules about wearing them. DOes anyone know of a website that is clear about the rules for wearing any of the listed scapulars.

and what if you have to join a Confraternity, how do i enroll in this group? what does a confraternity do?

should i just ask my priest to bless and invest me with the scapular?

thanks

this should help you understand Brown Scapular http://www.helpfellowship.org/brown_scapular.htm You are automatically enrolled into that particular Scapular's confriernity when you are emrolled.. no paperwork required.. Im going to guess its the same fot the others but I dont really know

I've been thinking about starting to wear a scapular-- only ever hesitant because it seems like some wear it more out of superstitution and as a 'charm' than a devotion... but I'm planning to e-mail a priest-friend in Rome to see if he'd bring me back one from Roma (cuz that'd just be cool).

I didn't really know there were any other kinds of scapulars other than the brown one?

the second one has links to various scapular sites, so it should have all you need on it :)

I am a Carmelite through and through (I have entrusted myself to the spiritual sonship of St. John of the Cross), so naturally, I wear the brown scapular. I don't really know anything about the other scapulars. The brown scapular requires enrollment (I just asked my parish priest, and he said a simple prayer doing it for me). If you are faithful to the wearing of the scapular, maintain chastity according to your state in life, and pray the breviary (or rosary), then you can obtain the Sabbatine privelege; basically, Our Lady promises to deliver you from Purgatory the Saturday after your death.

I LOOOOOOOOVE St. John of the Cross! He rocks. I love his writings too. ^_^

Here is a great site on the history of the scapular.

I happen to wear the Sacred Heart of Jesus Scapular. But I have a devotion to St. Margaret Mary. So, it is my devotion.

You don't need to be invested. Unless of course you want to join a confraternity. But, it is not necessary. If you want it blessed, great, see Father after Mass sometime.

God Bless,

Cam
