Thy Geekdom Come Posted April 17, 2005 Posted April 17, 2005 Someone told me that she has a friend at Steubenville and he's telling her about what a bad school it is because it has really subjective theology. She said that he's only been there for either a semester or a year (she wasn't certain), so I wonder if maybe he just got one nutter as a prof and is basing everything off that experience. Anyone know of any subjective theology teachers?
Brother Adam Posted April 17, 2005 Posted April 17, 2005 Steubenville is orthodox and every single theology and REd professor takes oaths of fidelity to the Pope and the mandatum. A person who is a schismatic traditionalist or believes such heretical ideas as woman's ordination would not get along well in the theology department.
Yeah, that's what I figured, but I know that she's very orthodox, and she said that he was, too. I figured it must be just like one professor. Creighton University also takes the mandatum, but they've been in BIG trouble recently for some things they teach and some abuses of the Mass...
Guest Eremite Posted April 17, 2005 Posted April 17, 2005 By their fruits you will know them. What kind of graduates does the University turn out? Dissenters or Consenters?
Fides_et_Ratio Posted April 17, 2005 Posted April 17, 2005 Just don't take Fr. Frinsko for any classes... He's not like heretical or anything.. but, um, sometimes he says interesting things. And, you'll get a better theological education from any of the other theology profs.
Brother Adam Posted April 17, 2005 Posted April 17, 2005 I'm in Fr. Frinskos class and I don't see anything wrong with him. He's a bit on the senile side and doesn't understand why his class doesn't laugh at his jokes which aren't funny... If you do the reading you'll get what you need to know.
Fides_et_Ratio Posted April 17, 2005 Posted April 17, 2005 I didn't say there was anything wrong with him per se, I just said you'd get a better theological education from the other profs, which is true.

EcceNovaFacioOmni Posted April 18, 2005 Posted April 18, 2005 Have you ever heard about the Ave Maria hiring practices? That's the way it's s'posed to be done.
picchick Posted April 18, 2005 Posted April 18, 2005 Micah, I was talking to Tim at St. Gregory's. There is a semmie who goes there that said the same thing.
Thy Geekdom Come Posted April 18, 2005 Author Posted April 18, 2005
Micah, I was talking to Tim at St. Gregory's. I think there are probably some people who look at the charismatics and get afraid. I can understand that caution...but calling Steubenville unorthodox...that's just goofy.
picchick Posted April 18, 2005 Posted April 18, 2005 (edited) Steubenville is much loved everywhere. He wasn't bashing them. He was just mentioning about one of his theology professors. It wasn't charismatic. I mean this professor was teaching false Church doctrine. Edited April 18, 2005 by picchick
How is an FOP unorthodox? Last I checked it was not a mass and there is nothing that the Church has written against Priase and Worship?
Brother Adam Posted April 18, 2005 Posted April 18, 2005
I mean this professor was teaching false Church doctrine
Who was the professor and what was he teaching that was false. I would like to know specific details. I will find out his office hours this week and visit him to substaniate the claims.
