When Canadians unionized their Wal-Mart stores, Wal-mart decided that the market wasn't good enough and closed their stores.

They are the most sued company in the world. They break the law all of the time and the Feds are almost on a daily basis busting illegal workers from Wal-mart warehouses.

not on a daily basis, silly - that was one large sting, the feds were looking into maintenance contractors that knowingly hire illegals; and WalMart (being the large company they are) is the one company that uses these contractors the most - suprise. Since many WalMart stores are open 24hours, and the floor cleaners work 3rd shift - it was easy for the feds to go into these stores and ask the workers for their papers.
USA Today story HERE

and WalMart is the most sued because they are also the biggest - they are what Microsoft was in the 90's... a great big bull's-eye. except a big difference between Microsoft in the 90's and Wal-Mart today, the unions want into Wal-Mart
most every lawsuit is spearheaded by big labor and big labor’s friends – and the rest are simply lawyers seeing dollar signs.

My laughter is directed at the retail unions – and not the workers trying to support their families. The unions made that move in Quebec because it was an easy move to make, and that is all – it was not good for the families, but the union bosses don’t care about that. They wanted a financial foot in the door.
Remember – Unions (aka: Big Labor) is a big business, too.

You have a failing store in Quebec – and you know failing stores are closed… just ask SEARS, ask Toys R Us, ask Home Depot, this is the nature of business – if you have a store that is losing money you shut it down and cut your losses, and you do this shortly before the start of the next fiscal year.
Then if you have unions try to get in (easy to do in a highly liberal area – Quebec, Canada) – you cut out even faster.

I do feel bad for the poor saps that bought the union’s promise that “all will be made well by the unions – wink and smile... and pay us" - …and now they lost their place of work faster than a New York minute.
I also feel bad for the people who have no job at Wolverine here in Michigan due to the same thing.
And for the peeps at GM who are heading down a very bad road because GM agreed to pay 90% of their full time employees’ health care as demanded by the unions (the big union win, slap them on the back… or across the face – your choice) and now the company is losing $2,000.00 + on every car that they roll out. Nice job, and congratulations to the union bosses and the stupid managers who signed this deal and quickly retired. slap them if you see them.

Didn’t an airliner go out of business a few years back for similar deal making?

I would like to say this, in regard to unions.

I have worked both union and non-union. In my union position, I was treated better, was paid more, had health-insurance, and noticed that my co-workers worked harder.

Working at Wal-Mart, he have been fed much of the same anti-union propaganda that you seem to have been fed too.

Not that unions are perfect. But they are better than leaving workers to the fits and whims of tyrannical managers who would sell their own mother for a dollar.

just a bit of good news -- tho it has nothing to do w/ walmart.... a friend of mine is a manager of a local 7-11 and since he is the manager, he is responsible for the product inventory and ordering the respective products -- well good news, he no longer carries condoms in his store. it is great that we have Catholics who are willing to take a stand publicly....

***ok, now we can return to our discussion of walmart***
