iggy Posted May 31, 2005 Posted May 31, 2005
I don't wear a tie.
Didn't you buy a tie that one day? Why did you buy the tie that went with the shirt if you don't actually WEAR it?
thicke Posted May 31, 2005 Posted May 31, 2005 Make sure you are humble before you boss if she asks you what happened too. Admit your fault and guilt, ask for forgiveness and promise never to let it happen again (HM...that sounds familiar). If this is your first time to mess up at this job, it might actually get you brownie points with the boss.
theculturewarrior Posted May 31, 2005 Posted May 31, 2005 It is a fearsome thing to fall into the hands of the living God, and bosses are a close second.
Brother Adam Posted May 31, 2005 Posted May 31, 2005 I've done much dumber things in the workplace. Most bosses are not 'fire' happy, it doesn't do them any good to fire people without really having too. Missing a day of work really isn't grounds to fire anyone, especially because you called and let them in on what is going on. I wouldn't stress. just make it to work the next day and do your best.
Ash Wednesday Posted May 31, 2005 Posted May 31, 2005 Anyone can join me and become a member of the Crappy Day Club! Actually that was me yesterday. But I know about those zinger times. I honestly thought I was going to implode.... :skitzo: I'm NOTORIOUSLY bad at making it to morning meetings where I work. My boss is really mellow but it's still really embarrassing and I know a lot of bosses would have my head on a plate. But beaurocratic meetings are incredibly boring and I am the resident artist/circus monkey who has no say so I guess that's why I never got in trouble. Except the time I neglected to fill in my leave slips on time.
journeyman Posted June 1, 2005 Posted June 1, 2005 I was thinking my day was right down the tubes when I found out one of my co-workers just found out that his pancreatic cancer is no longer in remission and had spread to the liver. Suddenly, sadly, my problems just didn't look so bad anymore.
Old_Joe Posted June 1, 2005 Posted June 1, 2005 At least you don't have a manager that hires people because they'll look good in the window, and not because they'll do a good job. Makes things harder for the rest of us.
