I believe the first step is to conduct a demo market. I'll be taking members who won't mind excercizing their imaginations a bit to see how this could work and help me fix any bugs that might come along the way. with a design at least decent now, I believe I will begin developing the interactive market forms and such to prepare for a demo.
Aloysius Posted June 18, 2005 Author Posted June 18, 2005 you're all never going to believe the amazing dopeness of the market graphics! now I gotta work overtime to make all my complicated log in functions work securely and perhaps I can start the first demo run shortly. seriously, you should all consider participating in a demo run. it will be loads of fun... you get to design your own little shop and pretend trade with everyone else over the market. it will be free to participate.

I might be changing that light gray completely over to white. I don't know why I have such an aversion to white... but it scares me. lol

I don't know why, because it is my preference for paper . . . With a background color, you have to maximize contrast to maximize readability left side nav bars are fairly typical, people may misinterpret your "stats" section as a navigation tool I put a nav bar at the bottom of the page (it may be redundant, and if you can design every page to fit in one screen, you probably don't need it.) but I don't like to make the user flip back up to the top of the page to change pages nav bar font can be smaller than text body font absent a compelling reason, why change the text colors for linked language. Most people recognize that blue underlining means a link - purple underlining means you've already visited the page . . . you don't have to teach them (unless yours is the very first website they ever visit) does any of this help? what are you using to design your pages? scripting by hand? front page? dreamweaver? NVU (that one's free, although I haven't worked through it yet) php (there's a version of that available for free as well - it's about one version older than they one they're selling)

Aloysius Posted June 18, 2005 Author Posted June 18, 2005 what my thing does is provide a market place. say your business is a restaurant (this may not be feasible, but stay with me for the sake of the example) now you buy a certain number of CBC for Chesterbel Enterprises. say another guy has a farm, and to make it feasible we'll say he lives near you. Say he buys CBC from chesterbel enterprises. now he'll be willing to sell you food from his farm in exchange for CBC... and you have to accept CBC as payment in your restaurant. if $1 USD gets you 100CBCs, but 100CBCs is considered quite valuable to both you and the farmer, then you are able to supply your small business very inexpensively.
