Guest TCW Posted June 19, 2005 Posted June 19, 2005 Please help me sort this out. My professor said I got this wrong. I wrote a song to the Little Flower in which I called the Church my Beloved, because the Church is the Bride of Christ. I know that I am also a bride of Christ, if I belong to the Church. And I heard that priests "marry" the Church. They are icons of Jesus, and the Church is their Beloved. They are bridegrooms, and the Church is their Bride. But my professor said that the song went awry when I asked, "What must I do to betrothe the Bride of Christ?" Is it theologically erroneous for men to pattern themselves after Jesus and view the Church as their Bride, themselves being the bridegroom? What is the traditional symbolism for all of this?
