eh, is there anything a bit more scholarly and complete?

That website strikes me as being intended more as a confidence-booster for a prideful catholic than as being intended for true edification.

Moreover, even if it is genuinely for edification, it really isnt all that good. I mean, come on, it lumps all of the Eastern Churches into one sentence???

I'll try to find something better. If I can, I'll post it.

While this article isn't necessarily supportive of Catholicism, it is fairly exhaustive list of Christian denominations.

In-depth timeline

The above is a from a catholic website, and is a detailed timeline of the Church, from Christ to present day. In addresses all of the major splits, etc.

non-catholic but extremely thorough

The above is from wikipedia. Though not catholic, it is extremely thorough, with denominations seperated by categories, and links to more info than you could sort through in a day. The downside is that their terminology is not always correct (they use the term "Roman Catholic Church" rather than "Universal Catholic Church" etc - though they have plenty of info on the other Rites of the Church).

However, all in all, the above is a really good resource if you are looking for quick info on a given group.

I'm not particularly fond of that source. If you want the definitive source you can go here

A source which treats the subject in more detail than those listed above can be found here
