allis-challmers Posted July 1, 2005 Posted July 1, 2005 I went and saw the new Tom Cruise move war of the worlds yesterday. I didn't like it very much; I thought that the ending was really dumb and the whole movie was about a divorced dad finally getting along with his kids. Basically it was a chick flick with expolsions.

iggy Posted July 1, 2005 Posted July 1, 2005 HEY! it doens't have to be a chick flick with explosions... you can have either alone and have it earn brownie points
Brother Adam Posted July 1, 2005 Posted July 1, 2005 SOunds like it is not faithful to HG Wells version
Apotheoun Posted July 1, 2005 Posted July 1, 2005 To be faithful to the H. G. Wells book it would need to be a period piece that takes place around the end of the 19th to the early 20th century. But I'm sure the special visual effects are beautiful.

ForHimAlone Posted July 1, 2005 Posted July 1, 2005 I think I'll be skipping this one. I was listening to our local Catholic radio station, and it was been given good reviews at all. It souds a little too gory for me, too!
iggy Posted July 1, 2005 Posted July 1, 2005 I heard that in the book, it all ends in a church. They decided that they did want the movie to be subject to a church or something of the like.
Ash Wednesday Posted July 1, 2005 Posted July 1, 2005 I have no interest whatsoever. I see enough of Tom Cruise with his idiot behavior and silly grinning in the press.

inDEED Posted July 5, 2005 Posted July 5, 2005 Saw it today... Me and wife weren't big fans of it...Special effects rocked, howevever... Spielberg actually does a VERY good job of staying true to the story...Maybe that's why I was so bored with it... Much bigger fan of Independence Day & Signs... Tom Cruise was real good in it...as well as Dakota Fanning... I'd give it a 5/10.... My .08 cents.
DemonSlayer Posted July 5, 2005 Posted July 5, 2005 (edited) I saw it today, I thought it was pretty good, a bit slow in parts though, and the ending wasn't that great.. Edited July 5, 2005 by DemonSlayer
justin165243 Posted July 7, 2005 Posted July 7, 2005 I loved the movie! The special effects were awesome!

traichuoi Posted July 9, 2005 Posted July 9, 2005 i couldn't believe the son was still alive...really made me mad actually...

That was rather bizarre, at least based upon the explosion that occurred right after the boy ran over the hill. I also found it strange that the townhouse in Boston was untouched, and the people in the house were all immaculately dressed, as if nothing had happened.
