St. Paul told us to follow him as he followed Christ. That means he had set a pattern for living that was after Christ that he wished all followers of Christ after him would follow as well.

Over the centuries there have been countless beloved saints who have patterned their lives after our Lord Jesus in some unique and various ways.

Which saint(s) would you say that you pattern your life after, and how?

Or...

Which saint(s) would you like to pattern your life after, and why?

Christ's faithful witness,

I like St Therese, because she was all about doing little things for Christ. There is a big push on the home front to be a big deal person, but I don't like to be important. Remebering to give the small things to Christ helps me to remember to give big things to Him, too.

well, that is very difficult because there are so many saint s that i absolutley love but i think my favorite that i like to try and imitate is Saint Martin De Porres.

Now that I've thought about it, my life tends to mirror the pattern set forth by St. Andrew the Apostle.

I enjoy fishing. He was a fisherman. He was the brother of St. Peter. He brought St. Peter to Jesus. I enjoy sharing the faith excitedly that it's contagious.

I have been able to use fishing as means to bless people with the message of Jesus Christ. I've also been instrumental by the Lord to bring others to Him.

Anyone else care to share which saint(s) your life is like, or you'd like your life to be like?

oh i guess i forgot to put why i like Saint Martin De Porres

I'd like to know why St. Martin De Porres is in your scope of saints to pattern your life after, and how his life is a standard you choose to follow?

But if you know anything about his life you will see he was incredibly holy and gifted by God. I dont know i just like him

St. Monica, because she was a woman of fervent prayer and her story shows that noting is impossible with God.

Definitely St. Thomas Beckett, to die for the Lord while standing up for the rights of the Church.

Son of Angels,

I don't want to come across as sound cynical, but do you really have the faith to stand up for the rights of the Church even if it means dying for the cause of Christ and His Kingdom?

Please don't misunderstand me. It's an honest inquiry.

St. Maria Goretti, she was so pure and died for her purity. Even when she was young, she loved Jesus in the Eucharist and understood Him so well. I look up to her so much.

St. John of the Cross (right under Mary and St. Joseph) is BY FAR, my favorite saint. To have the spiritual embrace and understanding that he demonstrated through his writings would be awesome.

She is one I was going to mention, too! She's my Confirmation patron.

Also St. Dymphna has always been a favorite of mine.

And St. Gianna Beretta Molla. An amazing woman for all of us to look up to for sure, especially those of us who are or aspire to be mothers. :)

Fr. Antipas,
The phrase which you refer to was mainly a description of St. Thomas Beckett's death, yet, since you ask the question, I say that I pray and hope that I have the strength so that if a day should come like that I will have the strength to die for love of my God, for the love of him who has loved me through my whole journey. The question you ask is, to me, like asking if a wife would die for her husband. Or, concerning the church, if a son would die for his mother.

I ask St. Thomas Beckett to obtain for me a martyr's faith, a faith which cleanses all sin, a faith which places itself beside the redemption of the cross, and I ask St. Michael the Archangel to give me the strength to pursue it. That is all that I can do.

Regardless of your intentions, Father, you seem that you ARE cynical. Perhaps you have stopped expecting such faith in the flock God has given you?

I know this, that I have the Faith of martyrs, that is, the faith which so many martyrs died for.

I think I would have to say St. Joseph. He, while being the foster father of Jesus, is hardly mentioned in the Bible. He lived a very simple and hidden life - something I definitely want to imitate. With what adoration must he have cared for the Virgin Mary and the Child Jesus!

Also, St. Therese because of her simplicity and incredible love for Jesus and complete submission to the will of the Lord. St. Faustina because of her fervent love for Jesus, His will, and His most holy Presence in the Eucharist. St. Teresa of Avila because she had great humility and was never afraid to do as the Lord asked, despite persecution.
