Maccabeus Posted July 6, 2005 Posted July 6, 2005 I know that the Father spoke against tattoos etc, and refered to it as Pagan acts etc. in the Old Testament. But lately I've been rediculusly tempted to get a one?! My grandfather had two, and he was Catholic. Also if I go to Tattoo places they have Catholic iconography etc. So is it allowed, or is it something that they do, but they shouldn't ?

i think it depends on your intentions for getting the tattoo, and what the tatto will be. Lev 19:28, which you allude to in your question, is generally seen as comdemning tattoos and lacerations that are connected w/ pagan practices, not tattooing in and of itself. i suggest the following articles: --Can Catholics Bear Body Art? --Is It Okay for Me to Get a Tattoo and Pierce My Tongue? --What Does the Bible Say about Tattoos? --Tattoos
