ryanmeyersmusic Posted July 7, 2005 Posted July 7, 2005 Hey everybody! If anyone's hip to the whole MySpace thing (or if you're not and want to check it out), check out My MySpace page (http://www.myspace.com/ryanmeyersband). There's a live recording of a brand-spankin-new song that's been getting some great feedback available for your listening pleasure as well. I need some friends! P.S. inDEED - I really think you're going to dig the new song...
inDEED Posted July 7, 2005 Posted July 7, 2005 Ryan...I'm @ work right now but I'll DEFINITELY check it out when I get home... Dude - WHEN IS YOUR NEXT ALBUM COMIN OUT???
ryanmeyersmusic Posted July 7, 2005 Author Posted July 7, 2005 Dude - I would love to be in the studio this very moment, but the amount of money it's going to cost to make the next disc a step up from the last is pretty daunting. I'm in talks with DIsciple about their involvement (mostly financially) in a new project, which will be make or break this year. I hope to have a new album within a year, with or without Disciple Records. I've been thinking about launching a grassroots "annoy the hell out of them" campaign, and if you're interested you can feel free to contact them through the GIA website and make some noise about it... CLICK HERE: http://www.giamusic.com/contact.html Just add in the comments section that you need a new RMB CD to get you through your semi-charmed kind of life (baby, baby) Thanks, Ryan
inDEED Posted July 7, 2005 Posted July 7, 2005 Hahahahahaha... You know, it's funny - most times we, the listeners, don't even think about the financial aspects of fronting an entire album yourself...Hey, the most experience I had with something that like that was the Phatmass album and all of our stuff was sampled from artists like yourself! Did GIA release Learning to Dream after you signed with Disciple? And, correct me if I'm wrong - but isn't the purpose of signing with Disciple for publication and release? It's a shame that, due to $$$ limits, we can't hear the dopeness...
ryanmeyersmusic Posted July 7, 2005 Author Posted July 7, 2005 GIA is distributing LTD, which is a great deal for me, but not so great for them. See, they only make money when they make the sale at the moment, and I'm doing most of the selling. I've moved about 2,500 units in the past 18 months, compared to their 300-or-so. Their numbers aren't pointing to "new record" like mine are, so it's kind of difficult to negotiate. Anyway, I'm being totally serious about filling out the contact form. Maybe once or twice a day... or hour...
ryanmeyersmusic Posted July 7, 2005 Author Posted July 7, 2005 maybe not the best question to ask in a public forum my default answer is this: disciple/gia has major ins at some big conferences that it's pretty much impossible for indies to break into. I got to play a showcase for about 2,000 Catholic youth ministers last winter in Pittsburgh thanks to the deal I have with Disciple. That's the biggest draw. Hopefully, some financial backing on a new record will top the list of things Disciple does to help me help them...
curtins Posted July 7, 2005 Posted July 7, 2005 MYSPACE smells of elderberries!!!!!!!!!!!!! DOWN WITH MYSPACE!!!!!!!!!!!!

ryanmeyersmusic Posted July 7, 2005 Author Posted July 7, 2005 you home yet!? I'm anxious to hear your take on the new track!
ryanmeyersmusic Posted July 7, 2005 Author Posted July 7, 2005 oh and "thank you" to the joiners and "nuh-uh" to the suckers
Matthew Buchanan Posted July 8, 2005 Posted July 8, 2005 I like it man. It's barebones real. There's nothing like a song that exposes ones soul to help someone to see into their own. Read your profile man, and I can totally identify with the whole crossover thing. Goin' through that now myself. You just gotta do what you feel led to do. I added you into my friends list. Steal some of my friends while you're there.
inDEED Posted July 8, 2005 Posted July 8, 2005 Ryan... This track is amazing, bro.... No joke - your songwriting is freakin' awe-inspiring... I remember listening to "Walk Away" over and over again...Just meditating on the lyrics... "That mustard seed seems bigger today..." Dude...Praise God, man...Hey, have you heard of PorchRocking.com? I'd like to get you in touch with Dave aka Average MC...He's starting up his own Catholic music label...It sounds AWESOME.... I'll get you his contact info...
ryanmeyersmusic Posted July 8, 2005 Author Posted July 8, 2005 is dave independently wealthy, have investors, or crazy? thanks, bro. i really think that song's the one for the next record... i'm so anxious to get into the studio with it...
inDEED Posted July 8, 2005 Posted July 8, 2005 Not that I know of! Dude...he used to be with the Christian band, "Daniel's Window"...He was their dj/emcee... It sounds like he'll be doin some awesome things...Like I said, I'll keep you posted...
Specter Posted July 9, 2005 Posted July 9, 2005 I'm hip to the MySpace place. I've added RyanMeyers to my friends
