I couldn't get the link to work. It simply takes me to a page that says that I have been inactive for too long since my initial search.

Below is a link to a rather detailed article on the history of the Eastern Catholic Churches and how they were often mistreated by both Latin Catholics and Eastern Orthodox, and how they were often used as pawns by various governments in Eastern Europe. I couldn't bring up the actual page, so the link is to the Google cached page:

yea, i wasn't sure if that would work or not. i just went to catholicculture.org and did a search on the word "eastern"
