Guest :: katethegreat :: Posted July 9, 2005 Posted July 9, 2005 Two of my good friends are Catholic, and both of them are leading lifestyles (sexually) that oppose the Churchs' teachings. I'm not sure if they are even aware that they are acting against God's will, but either way, I was wondering a) if I am obligated to say something to them and b) how to do so without presenting a "Holier than thou" attitude, and without causing rifts in our friendships. I would really really appreciate any advice you have for me - thank you!
Cam42 Posted July 14, 2005 Posted July 14, 2005 A) Yes. B) Approach them with love and humility. Be firm, be honest, don't worry about losing their friendship. Being a friend is not cowtowing to their whim, but rather witnessing to them the truth. Abstinence and continence, Chastity. It is one of the seven spiritual works of mercy....... Admonish the Sinner. the other five: 1. Counsel the Doubtful 2. Instruct the Ignorant 3. Comfort the Sorrowful 4. Bear Wrongs Patiently 5. Pray for the Living and the Dead
Cam42 Posted July 14, 2005 Posted July 14, 2005 Oops....forgot one..... Forgive injuries. My bad.....typing too fast. So here they are in their entirety. ....Counsel the doubtful ....Instruct the ignorant ....Admonish the sinner ....Comfort the sorrowful ....Forgive injuries ....Bear wrongs patiently ....Pray for the living and the dead Sorry....
