White Knight Posted July 10, 2005 Posted July 10, 2005 (edited) When I think of the Bible Translations out there I think... New King James Version, Old King James Version, Internation Version, New Living Translation, New American Bible, Word of God Translation Few others. and there are some translations Ive seen and heard that leave out the entire New Testment book Titled "Book of Acts." To me this seems like a big chunk of Early Christianity Historical Referances have been removed from certian Bibles. But just when I think it can't get any worse, Iv'e seen Jehovahs Wintess Translations "New World", and I see the Mormon Bible the Church of Latter Day Saints Bible, which also includes more books than the Catholic Bibles or Protestant. To me this seems like its wrong. SO according to Catholic Church, Is there a certian Bible Translation that is 100% True, and infallible? with correct teaching? Because each Translation I find it seems to be missing something. What is the standard Bible Translation for the Catholic Church or do they use all Catholic Bibles? Forgive me if this has been posted before.. Edited July 10, 2005 by White Knight
Cam42 Posted July 14, 2005 Posted July 14, 2005 The Catholic Church uses as it's base, the Latin Vulgate. All of the Catholic Editions have this as the source. The most definitive bible out there is the Latin Vulgate. It can be traced back in it's entirety to St. Jerome, who penned it. Any edition as long as approved by the Catholic Church, is acceptable.
