Turn The Radio Off was one of my favorite CD's of all time,

Curtins, if you like ska you MUST check out Five Iron Frenzy the best Christian Ska group of all time.

Heck yes I like ska!! I am like a BIG ska fan. I've always wanted to be in a Catholic Ska/Punk band with record scratching -- yep, LIke Sublime I guess.

Another good ska band to check out is the RX Bandits. I recommend "PRogress" They are really political though -- very anti-Bush but I dig their music if it doesn't talk about that stuff.

another LTJ CD i recommend is "Pezcore" and "Loosing Streak" -- very very good CD's. I don't like their new stuff as much though.

Ska music is so late-90's. Kinda like Limp Bizkit.

late-90's? Ha ha ... well I wouldn't say that. Ska has more or less just evolved into other forms of music. There are different waves in Ska, and I'm sure the wave in the 90's was when it was REALLY popular because the radio was playing Reel Big Fish and the Mighty Mighty Bosstones. So in reality, ska is just like any genre that changes from time to time. To answer your comment, yes it was popular in the 90's. But believe it or not it was popular in the 80's even like The Specials and Operation Ivy and even early Rancid.

Yup. There you have it, a mini-ska history.

^ heck yes you should check out Five Iron Frenzy!!! They broke up in 03 but I recommend the CD, "Proof that the youth are revolting" -- if you have a new/used CD place around I would check out those places. They have the most random stuff, you could find FIF for real cheap! There is also half.com.

Since I have been on PM -- there is always a question to whether the lead singer of FIF was/is Catholic. His name is Reece Roper. He also has a band now called Roper. Nothing like FIF cause it isn't ska.

its been a while since I listened to FIF.. I like them though...

Anyone like, the Supertones,, the W's or Madness? (Madness is an old secular ska band)

I love the ska I've heard but I havent gotten a chance to listen to much of it, sadly.

ahhh i love ska. it makes me so happy hehe. honestly though i havent listened to any in a while. I love FIF though and "The Impression that I get" by the mIghty Mighty Bosstones is one of the greatest ska songs ever.. in my opinion... but thats just my opinion.

I think i'll go unearth some ska now.

Ska rocks!

Of course, the OC Supertones are still out there making the Christian Ska scene happen. The lead singer is really fundamentalist and very Protestant, but they still have awesome music.

By the way, FIF's "One Girl Army" is about Our Lady!! Yayy ....

The W's broke up as well but were way way awesome. Of course Madness is secular but they rock - No Doubt was influenced by them a great deal in the earlier records.

Reese is not Catholic.

I hung out with some of FIF members the last time the band was in Canada and I met Reese (ever and for the rest of time... boohooo).

They're mostly home Church non-denoms.

Reese's new band is formed out of many of the old FIF guys: Brave Saint Saturn... WELL WORTH checking out.

They're emo-ish and very cool.

ska is cool. i like FIF and the Supertones. i like Sublimes' sound, but their music isn't exactly what you'd call wholesome, so i try to sta away... but yeah, ska is fun to play, and it's got a fun sound.
oh, and the W's are swing more than ska (like the Bosstones)...but they're still good!!

is the other new band from thos guys "roper" more ska??

^^ No -- not at all. Roper is more just rock but fun. I think Roper sounds like FIF without the horn section. But thats just me.

Also, are you sure he's not Catholic because at their last show he made the sign of the Cross after playing really Slooww and reflective and he also makes a lot of Catholic references in FIF songs ... but he could have fallen away from the faith ...

I checked out the oc supertone's website- I really didnt like their sound though

check out the Insyderz -- the lead vox has kind of a raspier/more punk rock voice so not sure if you would like them.
